Re my blog entry - I didn't know that you taught there!

As I used to say to Christie when she was about to fence (and which annoyed her no end, but I she didn't allow me to tell her to fence well), "Have fun!"

    '[T]he apprenticeship of observation'

I love this phrase! That's what I'm calling my best-selling novel. Or my ground breaking new band. Or my first-born child. Or something.

Heh! Thought you might like that. And to (mis)quote a favorite movie, 'You are the SSSS!'

You heard that, didn't you?

by Peach on 02-13-2012 at 10:39 PM
I feel pretty good today. Just a few twinges here and there. Rare for the day after a tournament, especially for a tournament where I drove two hours each way, with seven hours spent at the venue.

Mike, Jessi1, and Will told me they had a good time at the Liberty Fencing Club Sabre Open. Jessi was 5th, Will was 2nd, and Mike was 1st. The event went from a B to a D, unfortunately, so Mike couldn't re-up his B (he's down to a C these days, I think) Will beat Jessi by 1 touch

Not knowing when to stop

by Peach on 02-12-2012 at 10:34 PM
I motored down to the Baltimore Fencing Center for the Choco Therapy Open, as planned, and got there with plenty of time to spare. I warmed up with Brooke Sirico from DCFC, who is a nice fencer, and felt that even if that was the only bout I got with a woman it was worth it.

The foil event was still in pools, though, and they finished up the pools and much of the DE's before they started the sabre. Jamie Met was there to referee, and he's a solid sabre ref, but that was it, and we

She got legs

by Peach on 02-08-2012 at 10:42 PM
I was exhausted, and working on very little sleep after a long day, but I fought off the drowsiness and braved the slushy snow to go to fencing. Bridget, Tim, qatet, Mike, Tom, and Jessi1 were there. Jake was fencing sabre too. I only fenced Bridget, Tim, and qatet before taking a lesson with Ahren. Because Bridget and Tim had to get going, I skipped my bosu ball workout and my video viewing and went straight into bouting. Apparently it has made a difference, because I was able to fence with

Check-in times for Cincinnati

by Peach on 02-07-2012 at 11:24 PM
. . . are posted. V60WS is 11:30-12:30 on March 18, and we have TEN people preregistered. If everyone shows, that means two pools. Astounding. 23 for the open the next day (Monday, 3/19) (12:00-1:00)

Back toe, front heel

by Peach on 02-06-2012 at 11:52 PM
There was a sort of Super Bowl pall over the club tonight. Charlotte, Mike, and Will were there. I danced around on the bosu ball while I watched the gold medal WS Olympic team bout between the Chinese and the Ukranian teams, in which the final touch came down to instant replay.

Nothing particular to report. Will was disgusted with his footwork, Charlotte was disgusted with her fencing, I was disgusted with mine, and Mike was fencing fine. Will was practicing footwork in the
