From Stable to CIA Prison

http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/cia-secret-prison-found/story?id=9115978

The CIA built one of its secret European prisons inside an exclusive riding academy outside Vilnius, Lithuania, a current Lithuanian government official and a former U.S. intelligence official told ABC News this week.

At first, I thought this was a joke but it's on ABC, not The Onion, so it may actually have some legitimacy.

http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/lithuania-investigating-secret-cia-prisons/story?id=8874887

The CIA built or housed al Qaeda detainees in several countries around the world before President Obama ordered them closed shortly after assuming office earlier this year. Among the countries were Thailand, Afghanistan, Morocco, in addition to the three eastern European nations, according to more than a dozen former and current intelligence officials.

In more positive news:

http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/story?id=7847478&page=1

The CIA has reportedly cut its ties to the two psychologists credited for being the architects of the CIA's brutal interrogation program after 9/11, a news report said yesterday. Dr. James Mitchell and Dr. Bruce Jessen, who suggested and supervised waterboarding at secret prisons around the world have been told their services are no longer needed. Mitchell and Jessen, according to their associates, boasted of being paid $1,000 a day by the CIA to oversee the use of the technique on top al Qaeda suspects.

My only question is: What took you so long?

Bumperstickers, t-shirts...even teddy bears are being sold with the logo:

"Pray for Obama: Psalms 109:8."

On the surface...maybe a nice sentiment, until you see the verse and its two companions, which read in part:
"May his days be few, may another take over his position. May his children be orphans and his wife a widow. Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places."

Palin's Book

http://theplumline.whorunsgov.com/campaigns/mccain-adviser-denies-palins-claim-that-she-granted-couric-interview-because-she-felt-sorry-for-her/

I've read at least 18 accounts disputed from the book and I do NOT consider these to be lies or fabrications. Let's face it, most of us don't have perfect recall and when we tell people about things that happened in the past, those stories sometimes morph over time. [Especially when sizes of fish that got away are involved.]

One of the accounts listed here is one where I'm more inclined to believe the aid than to believe Palin's ghostwriter.

Palin claims in her new book that she agreed to sit down with Couric partly because she felt sorry for her, after senior McCain adviser Nicolle Wallace told her that Couric suffered from self-esteem problems. It’s understandable that Palin would try to deflect blame for the interview: It was a disaster that hastened her unmasking as unqualified for the presidency.

“It’s not true,” the McCain adviser I just reached said, laughing heartily at the claim. “It’s ridiculous.”

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/11/17/ap-turns-heads-devoting-reporters-palin-book-fact-check/

Palin supporters believe 11 reporters poring over every word of her book is excessive- and further proof of the media's obsession and maltreatment of the hockey mom from Wasilla.

http://www.nypost.com/p/news/politics/fact_check_palin_book_repeats_false_xUF8L3F1X9ucD5h7KMdcgJ

And now there's even lists of lists for people to fact-check the statements in the book.

MediaMatters, of course, also had a listing of errors found:

http://mediamatters.org/research/200911150011

My opinion: The publisher should have taken a little longer to release the book and run it through some copy editors and fact checkers first.

Lynn Vincent, Palin's ghostwriter, has signed a non-disclosure agreement.

It's great that our Obama is thought to be the next coming of Mao, the architect of that great peace movement and Renaissance period known as the cultural revolution.

For those not familiar with Mao and his people's revolution, here a link.

I guess the Chinese might be co-conspirators in the VRWC. :blockhead

AP - 11/11/2009 9:20:42 AM

"CNN host Lou Dobbs says he is leaving CNN effective immediately.

The longtime host of "Lou Dobbs Tonight" said Wednesday on his show that it would be his last. He said CNN had allowed him to be released from his contact, which would enable him "to pursue new opportunities."

He said he was considering a number of options.

The longest-running anchor on CNN's air, Dobbs was one of the nation's leading financial journalists before turning his program in a more opinionated direction. His persistent advocacy against illegal immigration angered many."

At the risk of upsetting the eco-nazis, let's discuss how recycling programs are nothing more than ways of indoctrinating people into becoming environmentalists. Why do I say that? First of all, it is not efficient by market standards. Secondly, it DOESN'T EVEN REDUCE POLLUTION as more fuels are burned by transporting, sorting, and recycling the materials than just creating new ones and dumping them in landfills. So if it's not economically beneficial and not environmentally beneficial, there must be some purpose. What is the real purpose then?
