So I have now been at two practices at Five Rings Fencing. I'm not entirely sure what to make from it as its is a different environment from my previous experiences.
(For background, I learned fence in two different college rec clubs. These were student taught classes and usually very fast passed in attempt to keep people interested. After I graduated, I started working with a coach with a local parks and recreaction program. Once a week with mostly beginners. Working with an actual coach in two years took me from a U to a C after 5 years of being unrated. However the coach's specialty is sabre and he teaches mostly foil. So since epee is the weapon I fence, mostly for economic reasons when starting, Wes can't really help with technique. After my last tournament, Wes introduced me to Isaac and suggested I start working with him on epee technique.)
I currently plan on going once a week to FRF on Fridays and continue to work with Wes on Wednesday. At least through the summer. The last couple of weeks I think was mostly observation to help them learn where I am at in epee. I'm looking forward to seeing what more comes.
