There has been a moratorium on fencing/spending money in my household for over a year now. I continued to have some contact with fencing by being the secretary of the division this past year, but I'm only fooling myself. I have handed the books over to the next secretary.

If you can't fence, you can't watch the game. If you can't watch the game you're out of practice refereeing, and then there's no point in studying for referee rating... you get my drift. Frustrating!

Now I can hardly find the blog section here! Maybe it's a sign.

It has been a terrific experience and I have met a lot of people, nice and not so nice. It's interesting to watch what people do under pressure.
I hope I have learned some good things in fencing, and I hope someone has come away the better because of me.

Next time, no more nice. Well, maybe.

Best of luck in your future endeavours. But this:

If you can't fence, you can't watch the game... etc
is a logical fallacy. Not only do many refs exist who no longer fence, but I know some who never fenced (got into the gig as fencing parents). Now, if you don't have time, you don't have time, but not being able to fence doesn't have to close the other doors.
