In Fencing Journals This really is a great sport |

Consider:
Either gender, any personality, any physique and almost any age can learn the sport.
You get to wear "geeky-chic" uniforms
[fencers had the one-gloved hand thing going long before Michael Jackson (rip) made it a "fashion" statement]
You get to brandish a weapon at another person without getting arrested.
You salute and shake hands after trying to impale and/or slice your opponent.
You get a great cardio, physical and mental workout every time.
Fencer's butt!!! -- need I say more!
If you're an extreme introvert, not only is the mask for protection, but you get to hide behind it.
It's the only place in public (other than a strip club) that women get to grab their boobs (to adjust their chest protectors -- of course).
You get to meet people from around the world and make great friends.
You can feel really crappy before a practice or tournament, but after fencing it never fails, you feel GREAT! (at least until the next day).
Bruises become a war story to tell and retell to anyone that will listen.
Mano a Mano -- does competition get any better than that.
And best of all, going out to eat after a long, exhausting yet exhilarating tournament.
It really is a great sport.
___________________________ Like one, that on a lonesome road
Doth walk in fear and dread,
And having once turned round walks on,
And turns no more his head;
Because he knows, a frightful fiend,
Doth close behind him tread.
Happy Halloween!!
