Weird. Last weekend I went to nationals/the csc to coach one of the girls from the McGill fencing club. There, I was greeted warmly by everyone I came into contact with, but I was subjected to a single question, innocent enough enough on a stand-alone basis, but grating when repeated by seemingly a hundred different fencers, parents, coaches, and directors, "Where were you yesterday?" Yesterday having been the senior men's epee event. My event. I fed everyone ...
Last weekend I fenced Easterns and did OK until I let Yann get a lead on me and failed to display any patience trying to catch up. Since then I practiced once, on Wednesday, because my back had been acting up a bit from over training. I fenced terribly and without energy or creativity at practice but I felt really good the morning of the World Cup. I had a solid breakfast and got to the venue at around 7:45 because I still needed to have my stuff checked. There was ...

I hit with my hand too low, I didn't get down enough on my legs, I look(ed) like a goddammn beginner. Well, someone taped the final of the Ottawa Shield. My buddy found the footage on youtube and nothing has changed - my fencing is really pretty funky-looking. I already knew that I hadn't really "outfenced" myk in the final but this was proof ...
Fenced a tournament a couple weeks ago and forgot to update. Went up to Quebec City for Estoc which is always a bunch of fun since there is both an individual and a team event. We went down the night before so we could wake up at a reasonable hour for the competition. At the hotel I ended up drawing the short straw and got stuck sharing a bed with Jean. It worked out pretty well though, because I snore pretty badly and he's the only one who doesn't notice it. ...
