  1. Solo training

    Today\'s work-out:

    Stomach exercises (2x20 bent leg sit ups, 2x20 knees to the chest, 2x20 push the small of my back into the floor)

    30 minutes on the Nordic Trak for conditioning and warm-up

    About 3/4 of a full footwork session, to whit:

    100 bunny hop rope skips

    1 strip of \"feel\" advances (half advance, shift weight forward, shift weight back, repeat a couple of times, finish advance)

    No coach last night; therefore, no lesson.

    We had six sabreurs, three competent, one marginal, one disastrous, one clueless. We fenced a round robin, fifteen touch bouts.

    Thoughts:

    1. We hadn\'t worked on 15-touch bouts for a long time--they are good both for conditioning and for tactics--I can actually develop a tactical progression over the course of the bout. As opposed to five-touch bouts, where I can\'t afford to give up a touch with speculative tactics--it ...

  3. Lesson and training this week

    I\'m going to try to use this journal to keep track of lessons, and my training in general.

    My primary goal for this season is to campaign a team to win the German Vets Sabre championship in the spring. Intermediate goals include:

    1. Getting down to fighting weight by Christmas.
    2. Reestablishing a five-day/week training cycle.
    3. Fencing twice a week.
    4. At least one tournament every two months.
