We had very few sabre fencers tonight--Ella and Tim were bouting when I got there, and I did bout Tim, but after that it was Tom and Dick. So a right-hander learning to fence left-handed, and a gentleman of VERY advanced years. I fenced them both twice.
Ahren gave me a lesson, and we continued to work on pushing, on chasing, and on collapsing and pulling the distance. Reminder to self--if presenting the blade with a strong advance into the distance of an opponent who is jumping in and out, remember to retreat a whole honking great deal. As Ahren said, the point is to get into a few exchanges so that I can bring them back into my game, not to make an immediate riposte.
Meetings continued today, about six of them. I only ran one of them, unfortunately, so by the time I hit the last one I was barely processing any information at all.
However, Ahren got me out of there before 9:00, so I am about to go have a quick shower and get ready for bed so I can get up and go back to work again.
