second intention

First practice after vacation. The camp was just finishing up so I didn't fence any of the younger kids, but Jessi1, Ben, and Donna were there. I fenced all of them 15 touches and then took a lesson with Mark, who had injured his toe and was giving lessons sitting on a stool.
With Jessi1, I just mirror her until she stands up a little bit, because she's a tad out of practice, but she was tactically very sound. She has a club at her college and is getting some fencing. Ben and I had a good bout--I got up 8-0, and then he matched me, and then I changed to a more aggressive game and beat him. Donna was in a little too close and not changing tempo. However, all three gave me good competition.
The lesson was all second intention--attack and recover in seconde to invite the riposte, or lunge, recover retreat, and then advance with feint and finish with lunge based on what the previous action revealed.
