I'm getting plenty of exercise this week--walking to the train station and from the train station to work for a total of an hour, I walked with Karen at school, I biked to fencing, and I fenced for a couple of hours and biked back.

I'm not having sharp hip pain the way I did Monday; it's more soreness. I'll take a couple of aspirin before bed.

Tonight I fenced fifteen-touch bouts with Tate, Dave, Kiersten, Meng, little Michele, and Jessi1. I went 10-14 with Dave, lost to Jessi1 by one touch, and beat the rest. Jessi was working on setting up the counter-attack and I was working on parrying the counter-attack, so that was fun--I was quite out of breath after that bout.

Ahren is back, and looking good despite dealing with a newborn at home. We did: coach opens, student makes half-advance lunge OR half-advance advance lunge or whatever, depending on how far he goes back, and the object is to breathe, keep the feet apart, and accelerate properly. Then he added in a counter-attack at various points, and then I was allowed to parry the counter-attack. After that we did the slow transfer of blades back and forth with cues from coach and student. I rode my bike home, realized I didn't have my keys, and had to ask my husband to drive me back. Luckily they were there.

I'm driving up to Long Island Sunday for the NOC at Mission, which has about 21 women pre-registered and paid (some people didn't pay yet). The week after that is Mid-Atlantic Sectionals, which has 11 (more than we had in Pittsburgh) and the week after that is Sabre Khan, which currently only has 17 fencers who have preregistered and paid but has a boatload of unpaid preregistrations. Memorial Day weekend there's a Liberty Cup, then a veteran mixed at FASJ on Monday, followed the next weekend by the Mr. Ma, then the Amazon Open, then another Veteran Open Liberty Cup. LOTS of practice. I apparently have a window June 14 and could do the Oil Change Mixed Open in Baltimore, which currently has two people registered Or I could just relax for a change.

Top ten reasons I read Peach's blog: I just realized I might be able to fence Amazon. Need to figure out familial obligations for that weekend.

I am so jealous of your tournament line up ahead. Do you sell tour t-shirts? Best wishes for the weeks ahead.
