Cranking through

I still felt under the weather today, but decided to at least go and take a lesson. As it turned out, Mark wasn't there. However, we had a full complement of sabre fencers--Dawn, Jessi1, Kiersten, Bob, Dave Mandell, Mike Kolodner, Meng, and Donna. I fenced everyone except Dave, including Mike twice. Dave commented that he was watching me fence Mike and thought my legs were incredibly strong. I was startled at that and said I didn't feel that way, but perhaps that's some of what got me through on Sunday. I was losing to Jessi1, who was being sharp and fast, and realized I was trying to be sharp and fast too. I slowed waaaay down and she promptly slowed down to match my tempo--and I was able to rack up about eight touches in a row on her to beat her.
A bunch of other people had been ill as well--Donna described it as food poisoning, Bob was sick and throwing up last week, a couple of other people were ill as well--and I'm wondering if there isn't another norovirus around this winter like there was last winter. That would explain my persistent nausea.
Dave had a couple of cysts removed recently; he still has the stitches in his head, and he had cut his hair short. He seems to be okay, though, and continues to be psyched about fencing the Sabre Khan.
They told me Dick Johnson was in and fenced last week. That man is extraordinary.
