Taking a break from grading sixth grade English exams (three classes down, one to go, and after that I have to finish grading their papers before Tuesday), I cycled over to yoga. This week, there was one other class member (Marissa, her name is), thank goodness, so the instructor couldn't devote her entire attention to making my knees and back do what they shouldn't oughta do. However, we seemed to be concentrating on the same things she was trying to make me do last week. I have gone backwards as far as core strength, or maybe it's just that the heat and humidity made my asthma worse. Halfway through the class, a woman arrived with a toddler and attempted to have both of them follow along. The toddler, as might be expected, kept up a running commentary and her mother kept giving her instructions. They got up and left when the toddler announced she wanted to go. After the class, Marissa and I agreed we didn't understand why the class wasn't better attended than the "serious" yoga class it follows, which appears downright grouchy in its general dynamic. Marissa and I always feel good all week after we go to our class, and it's relatively mild. I hope it doesn't get cancelled.

It was raining pretty heavily when I got out, but I don't have far to bike, and it tapered off. After lunch at my house, I was going to drive over to the club to pick up my sabres for the tournament tomorrow, but there are block parties all over and cars were sitting in the middle of the street, and I suddenly said what the heck (it had stopped raining) and biked over instead. Shame to lose a perfectly good parking spot. After I got back it started raining again, but at least I got some more exercise.
