I took my daughter's wheeled bag and mine to the club to practice, and realized once I got there that I had left my uniform hanging in the laundry room. I wore her uniform, since it was stuffed in her bag from yesterday's tournament. She's five inches taller than I am but though the trousers were a bit long they fit me, and the jacket though loose in the trunk and shoulders wasn't too bad.

We had Bob, Meng, Mike, Matt, Kiersten, and Donna, so we did pool sheets for our usual challenge. I lost to Mike and Matt in the five-touch bouts, and managed to get in several fifteen touch bouts with, I think, Meng, Kiersten, and Donna before my lesson. Meng continues to work on his distance. I suggested to Donna that she work on tempo change. Kiersten was off tonight and didn't give me her usual intense bout.

The lesson with Mark was a light one, mostly mechanical stuff. Some of it was actions off stop-hit parry riposte direct or riposte indirect. It ended with some tempo work with the hand--lightly tap the blade a few times, cut to the wrist, then beat the blade strongly and cut to the arm, or do it with cut to arm, cheek cut. Useful for the timing of a feint-in-tempo or counter-time, maybe.

A number of people weren't there--Cricket, Jessi1, and Jessi2 went up to Sabrage. It looks as if Cricket did well in the women's event and was right in the middle in the mixed, and the girls did not do well but probably benefited from the experience.

When I talked with my daughter she was still cheerful and up-beat. There's nothing like going from a D to a C to a B in a month's time to make a person feel positive
