Tuscon:
Decent area, lots of cheap, decent hotels in walking distance of the venue. Very dry, not many food sources in the area.

Pools:
? : Left handed posting counterattacker. I'm not sure why I kept doing the things I was doing. It just took me time to gear back up to fencing well, I suppose, as is usually the case with the NACs. I kept missing, and he kept getting lucky. Some of his touches were just bizarrely lucky and he was quick to admit it. If I would've just hit, instead of missed, the score would've been reversed. 3-5 D.
? : Average fencer. I was fencing much better, my timing was there and things were just working. I should've closed the bout at 4-1, but he came back a few touches. 5-3 V.
? : Average fencer. Very spastic, though. Hard to really predict what he's doing since his form was lacking. It was a few doubles and a few singles for both of us, but more singles for me. 5-4 V.
? : Good fencer, probably the other points holder in the pool. Left handed. I have no clue why I couldn't hit this kid, but I just could NOT put my tip on him. Other people didn't seem to have a problem, I think he lost to at least one of the other guys I beat. Something to work on, I suppose. I don't get to fence lefties much. 0-5 D.
Abend : He's strange to fence. It took me a few touches to get used to it. Counterattacking, great point control, but still very aggressively pressuring. I got a great toe touch. I don't recall the exact score, if the final touch was a single for him or double. 2(or 3)-5 D.
? : **** bout. Fencer was good, but the stars aligned against me in this one. Twice I made a really strong attack, felt the tip land, heard the box go off, turned my head to see no light, and got hit. Twice in a row (I shouldn've learned after the first one, but you really can't help it when you're SURE you hit and aren't able to see the box to verify). It turns out that the other strip's box went off at the exact same time, both times. I was down 4-1, brought it back to either 4-3 or 4-4, can't recall, and I scored a touch in passing that the ref didn't give to me. Next point, the opponnent did the EXACT SAME THING, and the ref gave it to him. I questioned, the answer was the obvious; it really came down to the fact that he was on the other side of the strip. I passed behind him from the ref's view but he passed in front of me. The ref had an easier time seeing how far past he was since he was closer to her. In reality, we both were about the same distance from each other, both times, both borderline passing, but he got the touch and I didn't. 3(or 4)-5 D.

I feel comfortable in saying that I really could've and should've won my first and last bouts, which really was my goal for the event.

Missed the cut by 3 touches. Last time, I missed it by 2. Disappointing that I haven't improved my results the whole season. I felt like I fenced much better this event, though, despite the result. Things were flowing much better, and I was focused on what I needed to do. I fenced much more like a good epeeist than I have been lately. Hopefully it will carry over to Sectionals and Nationals.

I know now what I need to work on, at least.

Airport Hell:
Got held up in due to the tornado storm in Texas. Stuck for almost two days in an airport, somewhere. Got home more than a full day late. Slept, if you could call it sleep, in the terminal. That sucked.

Anyone else get stuck?
