  1. Cookies and movement

    by , 12-13-2010 at 03:39 AM
I had a good lesson tonight. I talked to my coach about how things went on Tuesday and gave him the DVD from Charm City. He said that for having only been back fencing for a month, he thinks things went very well on Tuesday night. The few times he got to watch (since he was reffing the other strip), he said I had the same problems I thought I did...not following through and getting too excited. I'm also having some movement issues. But all in all I did well. He also agreed that I need to wait ...
  2. D-lite - Not too bad

    by , 12-08-2010 at 03:59 PM
With the exception of the last touch in my DE (I'll explain that later), I didn't do too bad last night. I had some of my usual issues of lag and not seeing what was happening. Had a few of the guys give me some help as to what I was doing wrong (Glad they were willing to help! You don't always get that at tournaments). Got a little "over excited" during some of it, but that's just another thing to work on. I think my favorite tip was for following through with my cuts...imagine my opponent ...

I was worried I'd have to fight with a stiff leg since it was so cold, but I took a super hot shower before leaving and stuck a "Hot Hands" body warmer to the inside of my sock and then wrapped it with gauze to keep the heat in. It definitely ...

  4. It's cold

    by , 12-03-2010 at 01:59 AM
Holy CRAP it's cold out! It was snowing when we were driving over the mountain. Had a good lesson tonight. Was a little stupid wearing shorts when it's 30 degrees out, but whatever. Did some PiL stuff and finally put it together with footwork. Wish I was able to tape it tonight, but that wasn't possible (especially since I had left my tripod at home). Managed to get some nice and relaxed footwork going, which was a good thing since the cold got into my leg.
    I only fenced once for a ...
  5. Christmas Shopping...

    by , 11-26-2010 at 07:02 AM
I'm one of the crazy people that's going shopping today. Even worse...we're going to the outlets! I just had the thought (and no, I haven't finished my coffee yet this morning):

Maybe I should take my mask along...I might need the extra protection from the other crazies!
