Decided to take the week off from fencing. Give myself the "mental break" (not counting school, though). I talked to the trainer on Wednesday and explained what's been going on with the fear of moving. She said it's all down to the mental game now. I'm easily lifting 130 pounds on the leg press with the bad leg and haven't had too many balance issues. Now that I got all the "other crap" out of the worry-zone, I'll have to push the fear out as well. Definitely afraid of hurting that leg again. I had a similar issue after I graduated Paramedic School. Had knee surgery, was out for 3 months, came back and was afraid to do the lifting. The boss eased me back into it (I sat at the Fair for 10 days at the Red Cross building), then one day I lived up to my reputation and was only thinking about the patient, not my body, and the fear was gone. I'll have to figure something similar out for fencing. Possibly have a friend "chase me down" and force me to move. That's an idea. Anyways, I have a lesson tonight, then I'm not sure when I'll be fencing after that. I'm 99% sure I'll go on the 1st, but before that really depends on school. Finals start May 2 for me (my one class got the short end of the stick - 08:00 Monday May 2 for our CompSci final)(not counting Lab...we're doing that final this week) and end May 4th, with Summer Session starting May 9. School has to come before anything else right now (I really need the good grades to prove someone wrong), so we'll see. In the mean time, I'll keep working with the trainer and keep walking here at home.
