I really really wanted to go to practice tonight. I had bought a light-weight blade for my sabre and wanted to see how it felt in practice. I also wanted to get another lesson from Kim before going to Millersville this week for the Friday Night Fights. I was all psyched to go...even still having the cough from hell...even against the advice of a few friends. Well...keyword: WAS. I went to put my gear together in my "coffin" (I only had foil gear in there from this weekend - none of my sabre stuff) and realized that dumb @$$ here was so tired and sick on Saturday evening when I got home that I never opened my case to air it out. Everything was still damp and everything had the not so subtle odor of damp neoprene, socks, and my fencing shoes. Needless to say I took the subtle hint that I really was supposed to stay home and rest like a good girl and not go to practice. I am still planning on going to the foil tournament at Millersville on Friday, but I'm not entirely sure about going to Richmond on Saturday. Whatever version of the flu I've got not only comes with a really nasty cough, but it has really wiped me out, so Richmond may very well be a "no-go" this weekend. I'm not real worried about getting down there and fencing, my real worry is getting back. Unfortunately, the same thing applies to the Ref Clinic on Sunday (that's a long day to be hacking and coughing and absolutely wiped out). It all depends on how I feel as to whether or not I go. Oh well. This flu is probably the same thing as my neck surgery (12 weeks ago today actually...) - a sign to SLOW DOWN! Do those of us that fence sabre know how to slow down?
