  1. another night at the salle

    by , 08-29-2013 at 12:55 AM
I spent some more night fencing with some of the local higher rated fencers. I did pretty good I won some of the matches with the A raters again. I was doing a lot of work on my timing and time thrusts and what not. One of the ladies wanted to have me work with her to train up for some big competition she was going to. I thought that was a pretty good idea.

Kind of funny she mentioned that a bunch of the other fencers had been making a lot of negative comments about me and ...

  2. Duelist open

    by , 08-24-2013 at 09:19 PM
Today I went to the duelist open. They had around 65 epeeists. Its kind of cool watching Epee dwarf the foil and sabre. People aren't liking the sabre because of the current rules so much and foil a lot of the issues with the points intermittantly not going off when you land and the issues with the directors (like letting coaches pick their students bouts to direct in foil ) turn people away so I'm not too surprised epee has grown so much in comparison. 3. Getting the new season started

    by , 08-09-2013 at 11:23 PM
This season I started with a minor injury. I decided to try a foil event. I did allright but lost in a timeout after missing on a fleche. During the foil tournament my foil got disarmed and the thumb on my right hand was wrenched really hard. Its been hurting for about 3 weeks now and it doesn't feel like I have 100% the range of motion or strength of my other thumb. I'm thinking its probably just a good sprain. I can still move it around enough to fence at least.

    I'm a little ...

  4. back from nationals

    by , 06-29-2013 at 07:17 PM
    I'm back from the trip.

It was interesting driving out. Michigan has been having constant storms and flooding the last couple of days. I had two car issues I wanted to sort out before the trip. First was I had this leaky front tire that I wanted to replace. That went pretty good, the new tires I got were top of the line so should last 90,000 miles.

Second issue is I had this rusted out license plate. I kind of procrastinated replacing it because the letters still ...

  5. Camps

I got some flack for bringing up the issue of scheduling the votes for the division hours before the majority of the fencer's events were in. I know it was legal to do, but it still was a pretty crummy thing to do. It would of been legal for them to hold the votes at 4 AM also but it would still of been pretty lame to pull, same kind of deal to me.

The championship was the first one I ever went to in my state without even one of the events being an A1 at the end (mine apparently ...
