In an effort to improve my fencing and get back some of that "fire in the belly", I am launching Dare 2010. For those unfamiliar with "Dares", this simply means that I make a public statement that I'm going to do x, y, and z and then keep a public log. [The idea being that everyone will know if I fall on my face and thus I'll have more incentive to do what I said I'll do.]

It starts the first full week of January so this week, I'm getting my fill of some things that I'm going to be giving up. I have, however, started shifting away from a steady diet of tuna sandwiches to a little more variety in my diet.
I'll also be doing a few less tournaments and more Saturday practices simply because I can cram more drills and opportunities into 1300-1630 hours Saturday than I can most competitions around here. [And esp. so when they're mixed.]
If/when I have opportunities to fence that I think will be more effective, I'll participate.
At the moment, I'm planning on the Columbus Sectional (a Sunday event) and the St. Valentine's Day Massacre way up north near South Bend (and hoping that more women will sign up for the event).
