Or however you spell it. I drove home with a short stop for gasoline and food and I am too exhausted to correct the spelling. I figure if I don't post now, I'll forget it.
Over all, I'm happy with some things and annoyed with myself for others.
I left at a reasonable time, but forgot to grab my lunch and failed to buy anything before arriving at the site. Thus, between 0730 and 1530, all I had to eat was a very distasteful protein bar. This did not cause problems, fortunately, but I suspect it didn't help.
Refereeing, imle, was good. For the pool, I had an FIE director and another director who I presume was being observed. I nailed the first bout 5-0 and won the second one and then couldn't do anything right. I even lost to someone who is not a better fencer than me because she hit my weak spot: Retreat to the end of the strip just out of distance and sufficiently slowly and wait. Every time I hit, I caught the guard on the way in so although I had a solid hit on the top of her arm, it was a parry-riposte since she extended the arm into me. Grumble!
I finished 21st while my clubmate finished 24th and then won her DE against #9. I was up against #12 and I owned the first half 8 to 5 and then fell apart after the half while she moved fast and hard. I didn't adjust.
On the plus side, I note that while my sweeping was ugly and would have made the coach cringe, it was still successful in taking right of way and I scored more points that way than I've ever done before in competition. This trick is finally starting to work for me and I even managed to successfully land 2-3 stop cuts while retreating.
Now if I'd just gain a little confidence in my ability to fence defense and start using ALL the strip instead of just the opponent's side of the strip...
