Lightbulb moment

In cartoons, sometimes a lightbulb turns on over a character's head to indicate they just got an idea.
Here's my lightbulb: Recovering from an injury can be a little like the adolscent years when nothing seems to work right even though everything is in working order. My left knee will never be what it was and I've been grumbling that I fenced better when it didn't work. Of course I did. I was working around it and relied upon bladework. Now, I'm using it again and I'm having to relearn timing, distance, and adjust to my body as it very slowly comes back however far it's going to come.
I'm constantly being called for attack into preparation or attack no because the knee is now working better and thus my foot is hitting the floor sooner than it did before.
Duh!
This has been pointed out to me before and I adjusted and then after I had my last episode of knee swelling, I fell back to the old ways and didn't adjust back again.
Growing old is a pain in the posterior.
Grumble.
Signed, Old Crone.
