Time to update the description. WSV50 fencer since 2004. Mostly recovered from two meniscus tears in 2006 (not fencing related) and other minor injuries. Focused on improving fencing skills and avoiding injuries. Goal is to qualify for the WSV60 team in 2012.
Looking back, let's review what may have caused it.
On Thursday night, I forgot to put my ice into the car and went fencing without it. The knee only felt a little stiff the next day so I drove three hours to Mishawaka and did some footwork while waiting to fence and then fenced and drove home (another 3 hours... it's no faster on the way home). The next morning, I went to practice. I note that both Friday and Saturday, the leg didn't feel very stiff and I did take my ice with me. Did I mention cutting the grass Saturday after returning home? And then going to the gym again Sunday morning? And nagging the husband to do some digging over where the sewer line was dug up so I could get down on my knees and try to install an edger? And that I did a solid lower body workout last night?
The leg didn't really HURT until last night so I guess I should blame the lower body workout on Monday.
My right shoulder also hurts like hell and I think the source of that problem is hammering some edging into the ground.
I still need to finish that ground work as the two pieces don't meet and I'd asked the spousal unit to cut a piece to fit between. Of course, I failed to aske him to please connect the pieces...
That's the problem with spouses... they're painfully poor mind readers.
It reminds me of the Bill Cosby monologue where he's describing instructing the children to get ready for bed.
...get into the shower. Turn the water ON! You have to tell them these things or they don't do it.
