Time to update the description. WSV50 fencer since 2004. Mostly recovered from two meniscus tears in 2006 (not fencing related) and other minor injuries. Focused on improving fencing skills and avoiding injuries. Goal is to qualify for the WSV60 team in 2012.
Last week, I ate 5 apples in a short period of time because I was hungry for sugar. Given that there's more calories in 5 applies than in a single package of dark chocolate M&Ms, this was not a good solution. More, it didn't kill the craving and I eventually went to the snack area and grabbed a Bit O'Honey bar.
This technically kept me to my pledge to avoid M&Ms and cookie dough but it was still cheating.
So what did I do? I bought a LARGE bag of dark chocolate M&Ms and put it into the freezer. Next time I had a severe craving, I'm would stare it down by looking into the freezer and asking myself if I really, really, want to rip open that bag of M&Ms and start that long, bad detox trip all over again.
It was a motivational prop.
Why are you laughing? You think I'm not stronger than a bag of M&Ms?
Three days later, I woke up and went downstairs and noticed a piece of purple M&M packaging on the countertop. I looked in the freezer and the bag of M&Ms was open.
My GAWD! I sleepwalked last night and ate M&Ms.
Then my husband came downstairs, opened the freezer door, and ate a handful of M&Ms while I stared at him.
He gets this blank look on his face and says, "What? Why would you buy something you didn't intend to eat?"
Sigh! So each day, my motivational prop is shrinking and my husband is enjoying that which I'm denying myself.
