WSV50 fencer since 2005. Meniscus tears in 2006 (not fencing-related). Injured the thumb ligament at Richmond, December 2006. Received medical clearance to ease back into fencing 4/30/07. Developed tennis elbow 6/2007 and I think that one's more work-related than fencing related. Sprained the middle finger on the right hand 9/2007. Injured the back 10/2007. Small tear in the right shoulder tendon (rotor cuff) diagnosed 11/19/2007. One of these days, I'm going to have a healthy year.

I have moved, thus far, over 2 dozen maple seedlings from the mulched area in our yard to the vacant lots nearby and I've stuck a bamboo stake in the ground to mark each tree so I won't cut them down when mowing grass.

As an observation: It's amazing how much a small poison ivy plant, with its tiny, barely forming leaves of three, looks like a maple seedling after you've dug up seedling after seedling after seedling.

I washed my hands thoroughly. With luck, there will be no outbreak.

The vacant lot has poison ivy vine thicker than my wrist that are growing up trees. Every spring, I try to kill them. Every summer, they retaliate by sending a covert operations team into my property.

Thus far, I've ripped out all the English Ivy and killed off some honeysuckle that was harboring the enemy.
