I once read somewhere that you should eat a live frog in the morning, immediately upon getting out of bed. That way, all the little annoying things that happen during the day will seem minor by comparison.

I do not eat a frog in the morning, but the routine is sufficiently annoying that the remainder of the day feels pretty good by comparison.

After I shower, I roll a hot pad and insert my elbow into it for at least 5 minutes. I then do 5 active stretches, unplug the heating pad, and move to the bedroom where there's a carpeted floor. I kneel for however long I can stand it [knee exercise] while doing the arm exercises.
With arm at 90 degrees by my side, bend fist to the right and hold for 15 seconds. Release and stretch for 5 seconds. Repeat 9 more times.

Then I unfold my legs and stretch them out and try to do active heel lifts while doing essentially the same arm exercise as described above except instead of a fist, I have my hand bent down (palm towards the body), with my left hand holding it in place for 15 seconds.

After these two exercises, I go sit down and do the remaining ones, which are repetition of the two above except my arm is at 180 degrees.

And then I ice massage for 10 minutes.

Nothing like starting your day with a nice, cold, ice massage. [irony warning]

It does help, yes.
I've been doing knee exercises since a couple of months before my surgery and this gets them functional in the morning hours. I also need to do exercises twice a day for the tennis elbow problem so one morning I was groaning over how much time it took to do the knee exercises, following by the arm exercises and the lightbulb went on over my head DING! I could kneel while doing the arm exercises. Headslap!

Boy, all I do is stare blankly at the wall, clutching my coffee mug, until the caffeine and/or the uppers in my allergy meds kick in. Maybe I ought to get a more useful routine. (Or a good night's sleep?) Does this help, at least?

A bit on the complicated side, but kinder to frogs.
