In Fencing Journals Braless in Dallas? Entry Tools Rating: 4 Stars!
  #374 New 07-04-2009 12:04 PM
It's been more than a few years since I last wore tank tops and I've discovered that the tank tops I purchased Thursday night are... well... the bra straps show and the strapless bra shows so that leaves me with... nothing.

My husband is quite seriously (or so he claims) trying to convince me that there is nothing wrong with wearing the shirts minus a bra. I note that I am rather small but I'm also over a certain age and women over a certain age are not supposed to wear shirts without bras. Not unless they're rednecks or WDTTAYTTA (Women Deperately Trying to appear Younger Than They Are).

Yes, I can get away with going braless. There's not enough to sag. But the question is: Should I go braless in Dallas?

It's supposed to be hot and I have these cute little tank tops and a pair of low cut Tommy Hill....whatever it is blue jeans (only $12.98 on the marked down rack).

Am I just too conservative or is it really socially acceptable for a woman of my age to be braless if she doesn't need the support of a bra?

Of COURSE I don't know the answer. I wouldn't ask if I knew the answer. I don't get out that much beyond the fencing and work community and one certainly is expected to wear a bra to church, etc.

I feel self-conscious without a bra. But would anyone really notice that I'm braless besides me?

Or just wear the bra, no one cares if they can see the bra straps either, if it's a spaghetti style tank top

Oh, good, another Cleavage thread!

Ahem. Well, I second FG, it's a non-issue. ( But then bra straps are also a non-issue. )

Why worry about what strangers think, anyway?

I believe petals are supposed to prevent the nipple/ areola area from showing through.... (at least it appeared so from my casual look at them while standing in line at the post office at my local drug store). I'm too busty to go braless, as I bounce way too much.

I don't know what Petals was supposed to prevent but I just went to WalMart and purchased a low cut strapless bra that did not, unfortunately suit me once I got it home. I need to take it in about an inch or put another set of eyes on it. [Get your mind out of the gutter. Hooks and eyes are how you hook it up.] I also bought what I think will work. A stick-on bra. No adhesive required. It seems to work although I note the spagetti strap shirt is still too low.

My husband wanst to know why I'm suddenly buying sexy clothes to wear to a fencing competiton.

According to a neighbor of mine - she does not worry about sagging either but had concerns with another issue - her solution a product called Petals available numerous places - these solved problem.

Hang on... let me get some popcorn while I sit back and listen to the responses.

Seriously, no one will notice but you. Go for it.
