I decided to upload a picture of my bug-bitten feet so there is visual evidence that I am not making this up about having a problem with being bitten to pieces by something while I sleep. I'm not a great photographer and had issues with the lighting but the second photo has one bump that clearly shows a hole in the middle of the bump, indicating it's a bite.

Mixing two unrelated events here. First, I am now allowed to state that my son and daughter-in-law are expecting their third child. Or, as my son put it, Do you know that birth control pills are not 100% effective? The due date is January 12. My son is hoping it will arrive December 31. [So it can be counted on taxes.]

Now about that beer....

I drove (3 hours) to Columbus for the MacBeths Defeat Open, expecting it to be a small competition and hoping for more. Instead, I got less. Explicitly, Peter McOwens (D), L ...More Read More

During lesson last night, Coach made a comment about how I didn't look threatening when I was preparing to attack. I needed to look more aggressive.

Okay. For some odd reason, I thought of a documentary I'd seen where Hiliary Duff was cast in the role of Wendy the Witch in a Disney movie. In one scene, she's working with a goat and the animal trainer is shouting, "MEANER!" --which, oddly enough, was the name of the goat. His objective was to get the goat's attention. Hiliary Duff, howev ...More Read More

When I woke up this morning, I removed my socks and noticed the tops of BOTH feet are covered with bumps. it looks like a swarm of mosquitoes attacked me while I slept.

My husband, as always, does not have a single bite on him.

I have a bit bigger than my thumb in a couple of places. I have bites on the back of both knees. There are no bites on my face or neck but there are lots of bites on my arms. i am sleeping in sweat suits -- fresh out of the washer -- and the cats do NOT have fl ...More Read More

Over a month ago, I woke up one morning to the sensation that the world was spinning around me and it was bad enough that I finally made a doctor's appt. After confirming nothing worse was going on, he said it was probably an inner ear problem and would clear up in a few days. He also gave me a prescription.

Over the next few days, the problem did fade. However, my timing has been off since then and I couldn't seem to get it back. It wasn't a dramatic change, but it was there and while I ...More Read More

We had a good crowd tonight and while I'm still not even close to where I want to be, I think I've reached a point of accepting the SN will merely be a learning experience while I finish somewhere in the pack in most events and possibly won't make the 80% cut.

Next week is fencing camp and I'm going to spend the week at work, drinking copious amounts of Diet Coke and trying not to pull out ALL my hair. The next week, I need to clean up the mess left behind by contractors, fix broken stuff, ...More Read More

Pilate Reformer tonight followed by a half hour rest at home and then off to fencing. I can't put my finger on why I feel good about my lesson tonight. Nothing earth shattering happened. I still have enough room for improvement to fit a small galaxy into that space. Still, I just feel like I'm making progess. I learned/was reminded of a few things tonight and -- since I keep forgetting things -- I made notes in my black book after I got out to my car.

If anyone ever finds that book they ...More Read More

At the veteran camp, Wang taught us a different way to do footwork that I found helps me stay better balanced and helps reduce my unfortunate tendency to either (1) pull my arm back as I advance or (2) lean my body forward as I advance, which looks -- from the side -- like I'm pulling my arm back.

Thus, at the gym last night I decided that I didn't CARE what other people thought and I got onto the treadmill, set it for 0.9 miles per hour, took the en garde stance, and started advancing while ...More Read More

Subtitle: I knew I was in trouble when I passed the sign that said, Welcome to Michigan and the event was to be at ND in South Bend, IN.

Disclaimer: I wish to state for the record that the problems I had with this competition were mine and mine alone and in no way, shape or form, should the organizers be blamed for this.

The problems began when I overslept. I never oversleep on Sundays but today, I woke up at 8, which is the time I'd planned to leave. I showered quickly, dressed, loade ...More Read More

I did not fence well (to say the least) at practice today and then when I went out to my car, I discoverd someone had stolen my Obama car magnet.

No, I didn't misplace it. I had one of the early, round magnets and there was still a perfect circle of dust to indicate where the magnet had been.

I note that whoever took the Obama magnet, left the fencing magnet behind.

Grumble.

On the plus side, the car was undamaged.
