Time to update the description. WSV50 fencer since 2005. Mostly recovered from two meniscus tears in 2006 (not fencing related) and other minor injuries. Focused on improving fencing skills and avoiding injuries. Goal is to qualify for the WSV60 team in 2012.
I left about 0630 hours for Columbus, OH, to fence at the Fattened Pilgrim Open. Unfortunately, there were only 13 participants so it was an E1 rather than a C1 competition.
I lost to Mironova 5-4 (he's a C fencer) and to Ferrara, 5-2, a D fencer. I won the remaining 4 bouts, including one against Lillard, a D fencer, who had the disadvantage of directing the pool and I think this threw off his timing as I've fenced him before and he was definitely not fencing as usual today.
It's taken me half a century, but I finally like the body I'm in (although I'd prefer to have my pre-2004 knee, shoulder, and elbow returned to me, please -- just send it through the time portal). When I stand in front of our bathroom mirror after a shower, I can see the abs muscles on the side and they work exactly as I wish they had about 5 years ago. If I'd just stop eating junk food, the abs would be flat as a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader's abs.
Suffice to say that yesterday's Pilate Refo

Since it's public knowledge, I can state that work has been interesting lately (in the Chinese curse kind of way) due to this requirement that no employee can insert a jump drive into one of our computers. It's not a hardware problem; it's a security problem.
And now we're working on procedures to transfer data without using jump drives.
Hint: If you're looking for a stock investment, maybe a company that sells blank CDs and DVDs would be a good investment.
The day began as it always does with a hot shower followed by knee and elbow exercises and then shoulder exercises. No weights today. A bag of peas on the shoulder and a cup of ice on the elbow for ten minutes before heading to work.
After work, I went to the gym and did the usual warm-up and then 60 minutes for 4.0 miles on the ET followed by a few crunches while icing the knee for ten minutes. Into the hot tub for the usual bend-the-hand-forward exercises with the newly added bend-the-h

I got up early, fed the cats, goofed off at the computer for a couple of hours, then took a shower and did my morning exercises with 3 lb weights. As of late, I've added two additional wrist exercises that will hopefully ease the problem I'm having of "blade droopage" when I go into parry 4. I need to strengthen that wrist.
I planted three maple seedlings that are about knee high by sneaking over onto the vacant lot, digging holes, and staking them out.

Friday morning, the knee was not swollen. I went to work. I spent more time sitting than walking. By the time I left, the knee felt a little swollen. I skipped the gym and went home, where I tried to catch up on some of the cleaning that needed to be done. Some time later, I attempted to move the cat carrier back to the basement, saw that my husband had violated our agreement that "nothing will be on the floor that doesn't belong on the floor" and went nuts in the Jack

Woke early, went back to sleep, and overslept. Thus, I only did the leg and elbow exercises before leaving for work. Lunch is the usual half-a-tuna. The knee is sore and my right shoulder is REALLY sore.
After months of successfully avoiding caffeine, I just ate a BitoHoney bar at one of our offices AND consumed half a bottle of Diet Coke.
Why fall off the wagon now? Because I fell asleep in the car. Fortunately, the car was in park at the moment but still... I pulled up and parked

I overslept slightly this morning, woke up freezing, and fell back asleep to dream that I was in a horrible storm, complete with snow, sleeting rain, and lightning.
I woke up again, even colder than before.
All this icing of body parts is getting to me.
I had the usual half a subway for lunch plus two apples, some carrots, and then I pigged out on two Bit o Honey bars. Why? I'm not hungry; I'm terrified. The economy is sinking and my husband's employers are encouraging people to tak

Morning: hot shower and only time for knee and elbow exercises followed by icing and a bag of peas on the shoulder for ten minutes. Off to work and then a lunch of 1/2 tuna sandwich plus two apples.
I think I have found the source of Saturday's mystery illness. I seem to be developing an intolerance to apples... or maybe just a certain type of apples.
So tonight, I bought some Gala apples and had no side effects. Weird. I also had half a Subway tuna sandwich. Again, nothing. So wha

Monday begins with a hot shower followed by the usual knee and elbow and then shoulder exercises (3 lb. weights added). I'm sitting at the keyboard with a bag of peas on my shoulder and I'm icing my elbow (except, obviously, not while typing).
I noted during knee exercises that the swelling is almost gone. Hurrah! This verifies what I suspected... fencing doesn't bother it as much as sitting for long periods of time and/or using weight equipment at the gym. Maybe I should ice for a lon
