Time to update the description. WSV50 fencer since 2005. Mostly recovered from two meniscus tears in 2006 (not fencing related) and other minor injuries. Focused on improving fencing skills and avoiding injuries. Goal is to qualify for the WSV60 team in 2012.
There are twenty-one confirmed WSV50 entries for the Summer Nationals and I don't recognize many of the names on the list. This is going to make for a tough competition (imho) and I very much want to stay in the top 8 on National Points. Thus, I'm planning to crank up the training another notch and see if I can add Tues. to the already fencing Wed., Thurs., and Sat. I also plan to stay later Sat. and see if I can fence the kids. I figure I can do the footwork drills at the same time they do

I'm back home and the veteran camp was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and well worth the cost and even the airfare, the hotel bill, and the car rental. Next time, however, I'm going to try to find a roommate to cut costs.
I feel that I was probably at the bottom of the skill level of those there this weekend but I don't CARE. The purpose was to have an opportunity to fence with other veteran fencers and I got plenty of that. I also had considerable input and feedback concerning my weak

Another great day of fencing with other vets. The knee continues to NOT swell after a day of fencing from 10-4 with a break for lunch.
I'm becoming optomistic about the knee.
Regretfully, no one has sprinkled me with the pixie dust that makes me an excellent fencer, but I am learning and experimenting and I firmly believe that in the long run, this will be one more thing that helps me become a better and stronger fencer.
I'll try to remember to post a brief recap at the end of this ad

Yesterday was the first day at the Veteran Day Fencing Camp in New Jersey. I was one of the first to arrive and it was a good, solid day of fencing with a break for lunch. Today has a later start and I'm looking forward to fencing as many people as possible and working on some actions that are not successful (thus far).
I decided to eat a small bag of dark chocolate M&Ms today. I wasn't craving it; I was trying an experiment. What I discovered is that if I ate them very, very slowly, I did not really like M&Ms as much as I thought I did. What I liked was popping something into my mouth that I could chew upon while thinking.
And I'm not craving more M&Ms.
But that is NOT what's sweet tonight. What's sweet is that my knee feels better than it has in two years and for the first time in a long time, I'm

After work today, I drove to the gym and did a short upper body workout with light weights (due to the tennis elbow problem) and put in my 30 minutes on the ET. Afterwards, I walked the usual 1000 ft. in the swimming pool before heading to the hot tub to soak for 10 minutes while doing the arm exercises. Shoulder exercises followed in the locker room and then home to ice.
Today's excitement was receiving an e-mail with pdf forms for intent to compete. Woot! Of course, I have as much chan

I work 9 hour days 4 days a week so I can have some free time on Fridays. Alas, I didn't leave until much later than usual and then I had to stop and pick up Ferrari from her 10,000 meow check-up. Thus, I got to the gym a little later than I liked and decided to skip time in the pool so I could finish some tasks at home. [One can only go so long without doing the laundry before one is forced to go to work naked, and management DOES have a dress code. One must wear clothing while at work.]
At the gym today, I put in my usual 30 minutes on the ET and moved to the two machines used for my knee torture. I'm still at 20 and 25 lbs. on those and don't expect t

While I've been suffering without internet access (unless you count the tiny keys and display of the Blackberry), my husband has been cheating on me. He has used a modem and and Earthlink account to surf the internet (however slowly).
I want DSL, which I can get for $19.95 for low speed. He's paying about this for the Earthlink dial-up account because he didn't want to give up his old e-mail address, etc. when we moved to cable years ago. He said DSL wasn't an option because it has half t
