Time to update the description. WSV50 fencer since 2005. Mostly recovered from two meniscus tears in 2006 (not fencing related) and other minor injuries. Focused on improving fencing skills and avoiding injuries. Goal is to qualify for the WSV60 team in 2012.
Sometime in the past 10 days, my knee swelling went down to the point where I can actually feel my knee again. I can bend it. I can straighten it. I even got out of bed normally this morning and walked a couple of steps before it reminded me that it wasn't a normal left knee.
Finally! Words cannot express how good it feels to reclaim part of my old self.
Friday night, after spending time in the gym's swimming pool as part of the knee recovery effort, I sat down and tried to write ag

Yes, it's a roller derby podcast of the daughter's team and it's a good ten minutes. Nice quality. I didn't have problems viewing it on a not-ancient computers with a Comcast cable connection.
But sometimes I love fencing even more than usual and tonight is one of those nights.
No, nothing extraordinary. I didn't even make it into the lame, but spent most of the evening working with a newer adult fencer and botching most of what I was trying to do.
However, I spent 30 minutes in water at the local gym before going to practice and my left knee felt usable. It will never be what it was before but I was able to move a little mo

I got on the scales today at the gym and I have LOST a pound.
If life were fair, I would have gained 5 pounds after eating all the chocolate I ate in the last week. If life were fair, I would have lost all the weight I was trying to lose during those times when I counted calories, exercised madly, and did all the right things and GAINED weight.
I am convinced that somewhere, there are Coyote fat cells in my body. Trickster.
And at this moment, they are laughing hysterically.
Note to self: Eating 9 apples in an attempt to avoid eating chocolate is counter-productive. There's more calories in those apples than the M&Ms. Skipping real food to balance out the calorie count was also stupid and is why I'm sitting here with a headache, feeling lethargic.
Food = fuel. If you don't take care of the body, it won't work.
The daughter's first book is not yet published, but the bookjacket cover is now online at the publisher's website. It will probably be a few days (or weeks) before it's online at Amazon.com and some of the other sites.
So for those who wonder what I look like... there is a family ressemblance. I, however, do not have body piercings or multicolored hair nor do I have any tattoos.
[I grow tired of CLOTHES after I've had them a few years... why would I want something that permanent painted on my BODY? It's not like I can shed my skin and donate it to Goodwill and go shopping for new skin art. That stuff is forever!][/i]
I'm declaring the dark chocolate experiment a failure. I have no willpower.
If I could stop at one small bag of chocolate, this might be beneficial but I've progressed to two and then three bags (telling myself it was a special occasion (late hours, etc.) and then I bought a FAMILY SIZED bag of dark chocolate M&Ms over the weekend.
We've had a waterbed for more than twenty years and we've had cats peacefully co-existing with that waterbed for an equal or longer amount of time. However, Simon Illyan -- the youngest addition to the household -- has developed a strong desire to CHEW the padded rails around the waterbed.
I should have paid more attention to this developing fetish before I stripped the bed this morning to wash the sheets.
Do you have any idea how difficult it is to find a place that is open on EASTER SU

Since my daughter had a roller derby bout Saturday and I'd decided to do something dramatic, I stood in the shower and sprayed my hair with a bright red -will-wash-out dye before going to practice. Only one person commented on this. Obviously, doing nutty things is normal for me and thus unquestioned.
While at practice, I noticed a trend (for me). I started off fencing S, who immediately took a 5 point lead and then I caught up, he took the lead again and then I caught up, and he eventual

I missed our local camp last summer because I had a mandatory work committment that took me out of state during that time frame. This year, I want to go to the camp but... I can fence against those kids about as effectively as a chicken can outfly an eagle. Thus, I talked to Jane and to Gina while we were in Chicago about the Mr. Ma camp plans. [My plan is for this to be IN ADDITION TO, not instead of, the local camp.]
I have not yet committed funds. I need to talk to some people first and esp. my coach. If I rented a car and drove, I'd have an option to do so
