Time to update the description. WSV50 fencer since 2005. Mostly recovered from two meniscus tears in 2006 (not fencing related) and other minor injuries. Focused on improving fencing skills and avoiding injuries. Goal is to qualify for the WSV60 team in 2012.
Last night was my daughter's first bout of the roller derby season. Titled, "It's a Bout Time", the Naptown Roller Girls, a.k.a. The Tornado Sirens, took on the Kalamazoo Danger Dames. The final score was 164 to 24.
I have never been so bored watching a roller derby.
The girls have learned the rules and learned to skate well together as a team. They blocked effectively, getting their jammer out front first, and then that jammer would lap through the pack and call off the jam the instan

Yesterday was the hopefully last day of occupational therapy for the shoulder and elbow problems and when I asked how long I needed to continue doing the stretch exercises, the answer was "forever".
Sigh!
She recommended I make this a part of my regular routine so I guess that every morning for the rest of my life I will be going into the closet, kneeling on the floor, extending my arm, and bending my wrist back.
How is old age like Rice Krispies? Lots of snap, crackle, and pop.
The Men's Soccer Climalite Adidas soccer socks do NOT meet my minimum requirements for good fencing socks.
They're a little thicker than I like and they're way to short, which means I wouldn't want to wear them to a NAC.
By getting the men's size and pulling them until the heel is at my ankle, I can just BARELY pull them above my knee. After moving around for a while, they slide down.
They would NOT stay high enough to be under the bottom of my knickers.
This is cross-posted with my personal fencing log on my web site:
I asked for occupational therapy after my right rotor cuff tendon tear (a small one) was diagnosed and today I reported to the hospital basement for Act II of occupational therapy.
This round, I'm to stop using the bands for a week and concentrate on other exercises. I've also been instructed how to massage the elbow three times a day (followed by ice) and my right shoulder is taped because when I'm standing, that shoulder

After two years of blogging on MySpace, LiveJournal, SFF.NET, Fencing.Net and probably a couple of other places I've forgotten, I've decided that this is PENGUINS.
The Penguin story, as told by an acquaintance:
A young child loved penguins and his aunt bought him a giant tome of everything about penguins for his Christmas present. The child was less than enthusiastic about this, explaining that it was TOO MUCH INFORMATION.
IOW, sometimes you take all the fun out of something you lov

Our oldest cat, Fierra, did not like Ming the Merciless when she arrived and spent a great deal of time making grrrr noises at her. Thus, Ming has learned to growl and when Simon Illyan chases her, she will jump onto a chair, swat at him, and growl.
Today, Simon chased Ming across the room and Ming jumped onto the chair, swatted at Simon, and then BARKED at him.
All I want for Christmas is my old, 2006 health back. I don't care about the appearance, I just want the functionality and lack of pain restored.
I've been icing the knee as much as possible and I am freezing cold alll the way through.
On the plus side, I can now sit back on my heels. I make *justkillmenow* faces while trying to do this but I can touch my heels to my butt if I work at it.
The tennis elbow is slowly improving and the right shoulder still aches.
Snow is falling and sleet and ice are forecast. I skipped fencing practice Thursday due to (1) car repair needed and (2) knee swelling was NOT going down. I did not want to miss fencing today but I also do not like driving when they're predicing dangerous driving conditions about the time fencing practice would end.
My car is repaired and I'm debating whether or not to call the other driver's insurance company and ask for a claims adjuster to take a look at it. The "dirt" did not wash off
