  1. It's all about "me"

    by , 09-30-2007 at 03:44 PM
I have had a dreadful cold since Wednesday. Thursday and Friday I went on the sixth grade overnight field trip, which involves hiking five miles up and down a mountain, and Saturday was my uncle's memorial service, so I figured since I felt like rat I might as well do a tournament on top of everything else.

However, I woke up with my lungs relatively clear and the weather is nice, so I figured I would be all right.

We had 21 for the tournament, including a bunch of guys ...

  2. A bit frustrated

    by , 09-29-2007 at 02:18 PM (Greybeard's Brain Blog)
I am no longer the Me I was. There are some holdover problems and I do not have the patience to wait for them to clear. (Me? Impatient?)

However through the support of family, friends and the fencing community in general (Brian and Diana to be more specific) It is slowly starting to sink into my pumpkin size head that I am a new me and I need to develop that persona. I just need to ask for help forming him.

I am driving again finally, I have started going into the ...

  3. School Practice

I fenced two bouts of EPEE left-handed with friends. Obviously, I'm not going to be fencing in the finals, but ...

by , 09-27-2007 at 04:11 AM (My training log)
Fencing last night at Mannheim. AL and I.

I warmed up with about 30 minutes of rope skipping and footwork, followed by the standard drills and wall drills. I want to reintroduce wall drills into our routine--they are somewhat static, but really help my focus, both on the attack and defense.

AL and I fenced two x 3 five-touch bouts, then fenced without keeping score for about 15 minutes. I concentrated on fencing with tempo and feeling, rather than power. Up and down--fencing, ...

  5. Live Long & Prosper

Today, I saw a doctor about my blue finger, which technically is sort of a blueish purple rather than a nice shade of blue.

    The diagnosis: torn ligaments.

What IS this problem I'm having with ligaments?

Bloodflow to the finger is fine and he said the only time he's seen this before has been with torn ligaments. I haven't a clue how this could have happened since the symptoms began while I was DRIVING and during a time when I hadn't done any fencing in a few ...
