    by , 07-31-2007 at 07:11 AM
I've only been going to fencing practice once a week due to a tough schedule at work and now that the schedule is beginning to return to normal, I'm doing WORSE.

I just don't function well if I don't have a concrete goal to strive towards and resting my arm so it will heal is NOT a concrete goal.

I think I'm going to have to draw up an exercise schedule and then give myself a series of mini-goals to get back on track.

    I need mini-goals because that's how I ...

  2. Another slow Monday

    by , 07-30-2007 at 10:07 PM
I did a lot of bicycling today. I met up with Lara for lunch, and we talked about this and that. She says she has been writing booklets to get down all the information for the various fencing levels -- beginner, novice, intermediate, advanced, etc.--of the youth & cadet. She has all the information down for the tests to change level, as well, and is thinking about handing them out so the kids can start working on what they need to know for the tests and self-pace their advancement through ...

I keep fencing not just because I can but because as the years pass, I'm better ...

  4. Outpatient heart surgery

    by , 07-27-2007 at 10:12 PM
    Not mine; my grandaughter's.

I must be really, really old because the idea of heart surgery as an outpatient boggles my mind.

I keep telling myself that medical science has made great advances.

As for the granddaughter... the doctor's thought it was asthma until a nurse detected a whoosh sound while listening to her heartbeat. This has, obviously, not affected her development thus far but it explains the asthma-like symptoms.

  5. Hit Me With Your Best Shot...

    by , 07-27-2007 at 01:04 AM
Epee night tonight. I arrived late and nobody else was there. Hung out, chatted with the coach, and eventually, MK2 showed up. I suited up.

MK2 likes to beat-fleche... a LOT. While it is annoying that that is 90% of what he does, it does give me an opportunity to practice dealing with that. This is good as it is one of my weaknesses. Getting to deal with it time, after time, after time, (after time, after time) helps me to break down the action, understand it, and develop a ...
