  1. CoSport doesn't want new business

by , 05-31-2007 at 01:34 PM (Fencing.Net Blog by Craig)
So, I just got off of the phone with CoSport, who is listed on the US Olympic Committee as the "official U.S. Public Ticket Sales Agent" and wanted to talk with someone in their marketing department since their site (www.cosport.com) and their parent web site (www.jetsetsports.com) did not come up anywhere in the search engines when I went looking for information on rates and other information for Beijing Olympic travel packages.

The woman who answered the phone very politely ...

  2. Three weeks summary

by , 05-31-2007 at 06:41 AM (My training log)
Fenced in Mannheim the last three Wednesdays.

First Wednesday, AL and I--Wednesday after the tournament in Nuernburg. I was pissed and very focused on ending actions correctly. I ganked AL mercilessly--we weren't counting, but I was outscoring him about 3-1 or 4-1. He was so frustrated at the end that he fled the hall without a lesson at about 2015 (we normally stay until 2130 or so). Lesson with Alex. normal elements.

Second Wednesday, ATK and I. We drilled, and I ...

  3. Back?

    by , 05-31-2007 at 01:39 AM
I finished the chapter I was working on, and the change in my mindset is palpable. For the past month I've been slipping further and further into an utterly atypical kind of personal insanity - leaving the milk out for three days, leaving the ice cream out, locking myself out of my apartment, leaving the phone in the fridge (repeatedly, sigh), washing my hair three times in a single shower because I forget that I've already washed it, etc. My apartment slowly accumulated piles of books, paper, ...

  4. Defense bladework

    by , 05-31-2007 at 12:22 AM
Tonight's lesson focused on defensive bladework, largely because that's about all I can do at the moment. Although Coach pointed out I was using my writst too much in beats and not enough in parries, I was mostly happy with the progress made thus far. I feel that I'm back to where I was on bladework and I just need to regain the use of my left knee and start regaining footwork to be back where I was last summer.

My reactions are improving. Now if I can just improve my actions... ...

  5. Cut, undercut, sweep parry

    by , 05-30-2007 at 10:59 PM
Josef was there so I asked if he had time for me--he had an operation a few weeks ago and wasn't around, so my plans of having a lesson with him every other week didn't pan out. However, he was available tonight. He said he would make the lesson twenty minutes, and I asked if he needed to rest. "No, for you, lady," he said.

We worked mostly on actions from cut to the hand.

    With coach as right-hander:
Cut to inside of forearm, step back parry riposte ...
