Time to update the description. WSV50 fencer since 2005. Mostly recovered from two meniscus tears in 2006 (not fencing related) and other minor injuries. Focused on improving fencing skills and avoiding injuries. Goal is to qualify for the WSV60 team in 2012.
If two fencers reach a score of 4-all, they must fence for a deciding touch, up to the time limit. Any double touch will not be counted (and the fencers will therefore remain where they are on the strip).
If when the time limit expires there is a different of at least one touch betweent he scores of the two fencers, the fencer with the greatest number wins. The score is listed Vn - Dn.
If the scores are equal, set the timer for ONE MINUTE. Draw lots to decide

The referee clinic scheduled for the sectionals has been cancelled so it looks like I'm going to be directing epee that weekend instead. Since I'm not up to speed on this weapon, I went to the Tuesday night practice at the former club (where I practice directing on Friday nights) and did a little epee practice directing.
I think I've got the basics of it but I'm going to need to review the rules several times to insure I don't make dumb mistakes.
Since I've been reffing at the informal Friday Night Fencing and there are more epeeists than saber fencers, I thought maybe it would be a good idea to learn a little more about epee reffing just in case I'm ever needed.
Whoa! I tought I knew a little about this but I'm finding I know nothing about the weapon.
What should be checked about the inside of an epee guard?

I'm newly returned from the Arnold fencing competition in Columbus, where I directed to the best of my ability, which I fear was not quite good enough.
