  1. Wednesday night rush hour

    by , 01-31-2007 at 09:39 PM
It was madness at fencing tonight, jammed. I don't know if I can even remember how many people were there just for sabre. For the kids: RY, NL, JM, Jessie2, Shannon, Alissa, Doreen, AD. For adults: CR, Tom, DJ, Alexei, Chris, MK, AL, Danielle back again, and Dave Mandell--Dave's getting ready for an alumni meet. It was nice to see him.

We took over three strips and were fencing fast fives, two up and then down. CR took me aside when I got there and asked me how the heck I managed ...

  2. In the 8

    by , 01-31-2007 at 07:08 PM
I think we are almost done. Tomorrow we should be able to finish this tournament.

We were still missing Doug, Zac, Max V., and today Keenan wasn't there--his ankle was bothering him yesterday from something that happened in drama class, and though he fenced and forgot about it, it started hurting afterwards. He wasn't in school today. I hope he's okay.

I think we still have Remi, Alexis, Max, and Shariq in the semi-final. I set up a losers' bracket and they're in ...

  3. 6 monkeys grab a weapon and......

    by , 01-31-2007 at 09:56 AM
Purposes of ratings apparently have changed. It used to be used just as a measurement of skill so that the preliminary seeding for a tournament was fair. Now, at least down here in the south it is used as a weapon of POWER. Don’t get me wrong. Earned a rating is a cool thing to do. Trying to obsess over what you’re rating is over another person as a measurement of your skill is a bad thing entirely. I’m a C and I can beat a U any day is a dangerous idea. As some of the fencers found out this ...

  4. More DEs

    by , 01-30-2007 at 10:31 PM
We ran several more DEs. No Doug, no Zac V., no Max V. Beau fenced John, and the two of them were practically gasping for breath after the first three actions--both of them tall and weedy and neither one of them able to hit the other. Everybody did well, and we hared out of there pretty early because I had a meeting I had to make. On the way back I had Jacob, Max S., and John orbiting me like small whizzing planets, excitedly telling me things they had noticed while they were fencing/observing/refereeing/strip ...

  5. Getting these blogs indexed

by , 01-30-2007 at 06:43 PM (Fencing.Net Blog by Craig)
    Blogs

So, these blogs have been going on for a while and not one of them is showing up in Google. That's going to change quickly.

I'm going through all of the areas of Fencing.Net and finding the little islands that haven't been given the Google love and restructuring them so that search engine spiders can actually see them.

This should lead to more people coming in directly to what they are looking for in the blogs or product reviews rather than hitting ...
