  1. Lessons vs. Tennis Elbow

    by , 07-31-2008 at 01:52 PM
The focus of the lessons for the time being is bladework. Explicitly, relearning how to make my wrist and fingers work. I still have a problem with tennis elbow, as it occasionally likes to remind me that it's still hanging around. I've been erring on the side of caution and avoiding certain exercises, which means fat and lazy finger and wrist muscles.

The differences between how the coach moves the blade and how I move my blade are both small and the difference between night and ...

Being a college usually means one networks using facebook. I used to feel positive about it until they started bombarding it with various useless and revealing applications.
I read that facebook is facing another petition. For any of you who have facebook, here's the link to the group:

    Or, in short:

  3. What a Guy

    by , 07-31-2008 at 11:03 AM (Greybeard's Brain Blog)
I think I told you that I dropped off a signed and framed picture of me at nationals and copies of the article in this month's San Diego Lawyer (send me an e-mail if you want a copy. dweiss@telgian.com) to my surgeon and the rehab group at Barrow when I was in PHX last week.

Thank you so much for the wonderful picture and the sharing of your story! (I mention him by name in the article) ...

    by , 07-30-2008 at 11:44 PM
Lara suited up again, and we had a good session of bouting. She's very smooth and tricky, and if it weren't for the fact that she's a foilist and a tad out of practice I'd be in trouble with her. It certainly made me sharpen up my footwork and stay conscious of the tactical development of the bout.

After that I fenced Donna for 15, and started to fence Tom but his lame wasn't registereing. Mark gave me another lesson. The middle part of this one related to Monday's lesson, but ...

  5. Buy my daughter's book!

    by , 07-30-2008 at 11:17 PM
Knock Down Knits: 30 Projects from the Roller Derby by Toni Carr, a.k.a. Joan of Dark is now officially published. Amazon shipped my copy and it arrived today.

The book looks good and the knitting projects are cool.

Her first booksigning will be a week from Saturday at the Carmel (Indianapolis) Barnes & Noble.

    Woot!

I note that some of the projects could easily translate to knitting projects for fencers. There's a pea pouch to knit for icing ...
