Tuesday went to the Adult session at the Y. Only two adults came, Curt and Raj. Everyone else is on vacation or working late. Coordinated with Coach Mark before, so I worked with Curt and Raj on distance since that seems to be a weakness Mark noticed during some bouts. After working that, we set-up a round-robin 5-touch bout where you only score if you did one pre-announced technique. Yes, I live in the Phil area. I'll support the Flyers when they are not playing the Devils. I grew up in central NJ (Monmouth Cty) and still have a warm feeling for Red and White; Orange is foreign but slowly becoming accepting. My kids think that Orange and White are normal... This relates to fencing because Tuesday nights I usually go to the Y for a practice with other adult fencers. Tonight I called out after the family said, "Let's watch the Devils in the playoffs." ...
The Y had their annual Healthy Kids Day. They shut down part of the facility and bring in different vendors to introduce kids to healthy living and eating. One of my favorites, Produce Pete's was there. Bummed b/c he was out of his homemade ketchup, but he did bring the chickens. (long story..) Mark and I were asked to give a brief fencing demo. The email I had said 1pm. I get there and the organizer says we were on at 11:30am. We waited for the Zumba! class to finish, we were introduced. ...
WCU is done for the year. Held our dinner at the WC Diner with nearly everyone in attendance. I think it was about 20 people total. We attended three tournaments; two we hosted, one away. In all the tournaments, at least two of our fencers came in the top three. Very exciting. And of the current crew, no-one is graduating this spring. Some fall graduations next year, so we'll have a changing of the guard. New faces this year who are coming consistently. Now, what to do with myself? ...
It's been over a year since we started at the Y and the finally got around to ordering us patches. Nearly every other club or sports will get medals, shirts, etc. They spotted us 10 sets of gear, some lockers and now patches for the club members. Awesome!
