So it has been a busy little bit of time. I am still working that paint delivering job, but have some other things in the works. Hopefully i can get a job that does not require carrying forty 61 lbs tubs up a dirt driveway.
Unfortunately I think this new job is affecting my fencing. The last few club sessions I have not felt the spring in my step that I have become accustomed to. Instead I am tired and sluggish. My legs feel like lead. I lunge and I just don't have the energy to recover so I just leave my point out there and politely ask my opponent to walk into it. Hey, it works some times. But in general my new schedule and manual labor are something my body is getting used to still, so when I try to add onto that fencing, my body just says "WOAH, I think we might just want to sit down and talk about this."
In other fencing news, I am thinking about fencing this weekend in a tournament. The wife is going out of town and I am bored sitting in the house by myself. CFFA is having a repechage epee and foil Saturday. Of course I can't fence the weapon with the devil (off-target) light, so I will enjoy their epee. It will be good to get out and fence some new people. If you will be in the area you should come out too, because more people mean more fencing, and more fencing is always fun. ((Not to mention that the epee starts at 2pm so I can even sleep in a little)) the info is on askFRED
I wanted to talk about how ridiculous the whole USFA election thing is getting here on Fnet, but I decided I didn't care. Some of the people in that whole mess just make me want to club baby seals. I got my ballot, I voted. And to be honest I voted the way I did simply because the other side just seems to come off as more juvenile on the forums. That was pretty much my entire motivation.
Besides there are enough fencing politics in my home town to deal with, I don't need to pay more attention to even more unneeded strife. Part of me misses the days when all I wanted was to go to a tournament a couple times a semester and learn. It just gets harder and harder to ignore all the drama involved on the multitude of levels. You know what i mean?
Anyways, in other news... My best mate moved away for the summer, so I will be attending most of my summer tournaments by my lonesome. I am sure I can coerce the wifey into joining me to a couple so that she can take pictures, but it will be weird fencing without him mocking me from the back of the strip.
I think that is about everything that is going on. So have fun this Memorial Day weekend. Don't drink and drive. Just Drink. Lots. Like I am hoping to still be hungover Tuesday from Saturday. Ok maybe I exaggerate, but seriously, drinking is good for you. Oh, and happy fencing everyone.
