My not so political philosophy of fencing. More like where I just keep a record of what's going on and how it affects my sport.

So here it is Nationals time. I had really hoped to be fencing in the Div 2/3 tournaments this year. Stupid B rating. It is going to be so hard to get into 1A around here. At least I am not in New York or some other abundantly skilled section. I would not even stand a chance there.

Perhaps in the next season I can make even more progress at becoming an amazing fencer. Unfortunately for the time being that is not likely as I am the poorest man ever. OK that is not even close to true. ...More Read More

So it has been more than two weeks since my little time off period from fencing has begun. It has been rather relaxing to be honest. I look forward to heading back to fencing next month, but for now it is kind of nice to sit back on my week nights and watch a ball game with a beverage of alcoholic origins.

Meanwhile though an out of town visitor to the world of Rock Hill got in touch with me inquiring about fencing in the Rock Hill area. This happens rather often as Winthrop is listed as ...More Read More

I just can't find it. I have been slightly limping on and off for almost a week now. I have no idea exactly what I did to it, but I think it involves picking up heavy 5 gallon tubs of paint and moving them across the greater Charlotte area. I thought you should all know.

I did not make it to the tournament in New Bern last weekend. I am crazy disappointed about that. The trophy was gigantic. But unfortunately gas prices have officially affected my fencing. 6 hours away... just too l ...More Read More

I had a blast today. It was almost worth only getting five hours of sleep.

So the wifey left for the weekend, and I decided I would take advantage of that by partaking in the pleasures of competitive fencing. I really thought I was going to head down to my home town of Augusta at some point last week and fence there for the third time this season. However I really had this strong urge to try something different. I mean i see a lot of the people that were there every time I go to a tourna ...More Read More

So it has been a busy little bit of time. I am still working that paint delivering job, but have some other things in the works. Hopefully i can get a job that does not require carrying forty 61 lbs tubs up a dirt driveway.

Unfortunately I think this new job is affecting my fencing. The last few club sessions I have not felt the spring in my step that I have become accustomed to. Instead I am tired and sluggish. My legs feel like lead. I lunge and I just don't have the energy to recove ...More Read More

because she rocks the block!

Warning: I did that thing were I complain about life before I get to the fencing news. I highlighted the fencing information though so you can just, skip the emo rant if you want.

It has been a cruddy week. Seriously, I wish I could hit the restart button and just try again.

I got a job, and it does not pay well and it is only part time, and I do not like it one bit. It involves moving giant buckets of paint from one place and putting them in a van, and ...More Read More

I just read the list of Time magazine's top 100 most influential people, and yet again... I am not on the list. One of these years I am going to pull that off.

Anyways, I am done with Southeast sectionals today, and I have to be honest, I am having a love hate response to my results. It kind of ended along the same lines of most of my tournaments this year. I had dismal pool results and managed to fence decently in DEs until I got to a fencer who was just better than me. Today it was the ...More Read More

I have not had too much to blog about when it comes to the fencing world. Or the real world for that part. But I felt that I should get some words down before sectionals this weekend. The reason for this is that I am bored, and getting words down will take up some time. Sectionals looks to have turned into a very strong A2 tournament instead of the A4 I think we were all hoping for. This is not the biggest deal for me in the world, but it is always nice to fence in A4s.

There are a lot ...More Read More

So, seriously what a crazy weekend. The club held its monthly tournament, and it turns out we were all pretty busy. We are a foil club, but everyone of our foilist had previous engagements. So we never got the strong event we are known for. Next month will be different, but yeah open foil was a two person event. I came in at the end of the DE. It was nice to talk to the people there, but not much was going on. I should have fenced in it, I would have earned my first foil medal. oh well ...More Read More

a bad night for me.

So tonight at club I had an off night like I have not had in a long time. I had fun in all of our warm ups and drills, but when we got to the fencing I lost every single match that I fenced in. It was incredibly frustrating, and as we all know that is the worst thing that I can have to deal with. After I got knocked out of our mini-tournament I got to ref the rest of the night. I enjoyed it more than being a human target. I don't know if I was just too worn out from ...More Read More
