See, I am not yet 28 years of age. So when the doctor tells me that I have arthritis in my back, I say, "really? I am not even 28!"
So now I am a 27 year old who is losing his hair, losing his hearing, bad knees, arthritis in his back, and nose hair that could clog your kitchen sink (as my wife had no qualms pointing out to me). The problem with getting old is that I did not expect to have it happen until I was like 30 or something.
Unfortunately, the doctor said the arthritis is not t

I thought now that we are right on the heels of a new season I might want to take a chance and set down some thoughts. I am really looking forward to this season. We have 2 NACs on the east coast, Summer Nationals in Atlanta, and all the regular biggies (Kickoff, Hangover, Cherry Blossom, etc..). Also the Sectionals are being held in NC so I can get there. Should be a great time.
This season my wife is going to be able to join me on some of these trips like she used to. It is nice havin

Because I don't have to do anything but sit on my butt.
It has been two weeks since I got my promotion at the paint store. Please allow me to say, I am not a fan of 44 hour weeks with fencing. Either one by itself is fine. But when their powers combine I become a shell of my normal self. For the past two weeks I have been incredibly tired, getting on average only 5 or 6 hours of sleep each night. I also had an old friend in town for that time, and that just resulted in more awake time.

So about a week ago I get an phone call from the district manager of my day job. He offered me a management position at one for the stores in our area. A full time job that will pay about 3 times what I make right now (that includes the day job and the bit of coaching I do). It will be more money than my wife and I have had coming into the house. And considering we are surviving fine on what we have (since I have deferred my student loans until my grandchildren can pay them), that is really

I do not even remember when the last time I updated this thing was, but I am pretty sure I was at the fencing school. That seems to be where I am most the time. There, my day job, or sleeping. Very busy. But I love it. Life is great.
I have a lot to catch you all up on, but I won't be able to so I won't worry about it. suffice to say many more things have happened that what I will jot down ever so abruptly. (The day I become abrupt will be a scary day.)
Thanks to the plague that has been running through the population of Charlotte, I have an extra halh hour, and I thought I might spend it with y'all.
Things are still going well for me. All that stuff that I am working on regarding my fencing is making sense. I am having a lot of success when I can stay focused on it. THe major problem is keeping that focus throughout the fencing time. It does me know good to fence my game half the time and just flail about the other half. Especially wh

The past few weeks have been crazy busy. My new store keeps me much busier than the one I used to work at. I work 8-4 most days. Which gives me enough time to get to fencing. As the scheduling goes, I usually just go straight to fencing from there, and as such do not spend a lot of time sitting at home.
However a lot has been happening in the world of fencing. I am giving introductory lessons now. It is a lot of fun, though feels a lot different when I am doing it professionally as o

So yeah, the Panthers lost last night. Jake Delhome single-handedly lost the game with 6 turnovers. Now I have been trash talking him for a while saying we need to start looking for a replacement. I hope the naysayers for this line of thought have finally come over to my side. 6 turnovers! He played like a novice epeeist in a Div 1 Saber tournament. Seriously, I was really excited for the panthers this season. I was planning to go root them on in Tampa. Last night was the most disappoin

So first and foremost I am incredibly excited about having finished my library! My wife and I (mostly her) have worked our butts off to get it up and running. Scraped the textured crud off our ceiling, painted, installed a very nice fan and most importantly put up a wall of book shelves!
Assuming that the picture is now in there you can see that it is very exciting. The empty shelves are for my wife's law

I am all set for a new and exciting year full of accomplishment and prosperity!
Now I just need to figure out how to do that. Let us dwell on that topic.
Next year my fencing goals are the same as they have been as of late, to improve. I know goals should have definite measurable parameters, but I am not sure what I want my fencing to do right now. I guess I want to finish top 32 at one of the biggy tournaments. Namely something like the Cherry Blossom. Finishin
