so..tomorrow is my next tournament..hopefully no surprises like last time..although coming back from 14-11 to win is exciting, actually being down 14-11 really isn't. this time should be a really strong tournament as there will be at least 4 people there that can kick my skinny ass, . my coach seems to think i can beat a couple of them. my goal is (and i really don't have control over this one) is to fence people i've never fenced before. last time i really didn't enjoy fencing a teammate in a DE, even though i won. i didn't pay all that money (and tournaments are way more expensive in canada) to get the same thing i get in practice. i also don't care about "rankings" and ratings anymore as in canada its a whole different game. looking at the system i'm pretty sure that i'll likely end up with a C eventually and that's as far as i can get..maybe a B if i get really really good and compete regularly. up here there really isn't a "one and you're done" tournament where you get lucky and squeak out a high rating if someone strong makes the top 8 even though you don't fence them (you know i really hated that..buddy could beat so many high rated fencers, but just because buddy didn't fence them in the top 8, knocking them out too early, buddy got nothing out of it).
i think my life is too diverse now to concentrate on fencing to the point where i'm competing even between provinces. i'm at that point where "life issues" and reality bites i guess..now i see why my age group is so underrepresented in the sport.
so again my coach will be there and my attitude on strip side coaching has changed so i'll see if it helps again. i've also got the colours on the uniform now, . i'll see how much good luck the maple leaf really has.
btw, i'm still not ready for car shopping just yet. i'm so lazy...not to mention i like how much money i've accumulated by actually not having to pay car insurance/gas/maintenance/etc.. i will get one eventually but for now, living downtown is easy in terms of getting around...so i'll likely wait till the summer.
