Who am I? I have a happy little existence with my husband, my large yellow lab & my two kittens. My dog is 100 lbs of bouncy joy. My male cat is addicted to "Greenies", catnip & thinks he's a dog. My female cat looks like a sweet housecat, but is a serial killer.
I took up fencing after I turned 40 & wanted to find a sport that would keep me active and fit into my old age.
I spend my time coaching beginners, training, & working at our vintage autosound business.
Note: Some of my blog entries are only available to my "Blog Buddies". They are either private in nature or about coaching. I make my coaching entries private becuase public entries can be read by the general public. While I never use names, the descriptions of the events can reveal information and I want to respect the privacy of my students. If you would like to be on my list, please PM me and I will add you.

Hmmm, I wonder... Offering free fencing lessons to parents if their kids si...
First off, I'm still miffed She and He went away a few days ago. Do They not remember how badly that went the first time they did that? The only way They're going to get the message is leaving Them when they get back.
So for the last couple days I've been sleeping outside, denying Her the pleasure of rubbing me during the day. purrrrr...They need to be reminded that They need me more than I need Them. After all, I'm Sophie!
This weekend we went to another car show. This one was different for us. We couldn't arrive on time to be a vendor because there was a scheduling conflict with my coaching and set-up. I didn't want to postpone 4 classes, so we decided to just "walk the strip".
To most of you "walking the strip" is taking deep breaths and gathering yourself up on the piste. At car shows, it means we went up and down where the cars were being shown along the beach and talked to folks about our product.
One of the things I love about my area is the number of green spaces. Either those by design or by guerrilla gardeners*. More and more I'm seeing subdivisions being designed to be livable communities.
1) Yesterday my sister and I went for a walk where they are building the athletes village for the 2010 Olympics. They've nearly completed the outdoor areas and have started on the buildings. After the games, the buildings will be housing. 1/4 of it will be for low income earners. This area is

I'm up at some ungodly hour yesterday to head off to a car show. We're going down a usually busy road and we see this squirrel weaving all over the street with something bright red on his head.
No he wasn't coming home from a party.... he had a candy package stuck on his head. So we stop the car, and I run out and plunk it off. As I turn to get back in my car, I notice the line-up of cars behind me... with people clapping.
It was a funny way to start a day. Although I kinda felt like Snow

When ZZ told me that a mutual friend from f-net was visiting my area, I decided to drop her a quick e-mail.
As luck would have it, we both had time available this week so we met for lunch on Friday. It's always nice meeting people in person and getting the opportunity to talk with them over a nice meal.
I felt a little bad for her as the weather wasn't great this week. Early summers tend to not be terriably dry around here. It's hard to get a good sense of what a city is like when you hav

Well... I finally bit the bullet and got a cell phone. I hate the damn things. I can't stand hearing people's idiotic conversations in stores and restaurants. I hate driving behind someone on a cell phone. However, phone booths are more and more rare and there's times when having a phone is convenient.
So I got myself a cheap little phone (that does more than my hubby's 3 year old one) and $10 pay and talk. So every call is like using a pay phone. 25 cents at a time.
Jason Says:
How the hell did this become the most viewed blog entry in all of fencing.net?? It's not even about fencing and it's only a few weeks old! This site must be a secret lair for cat-fetishists...
It has brought to my attention that my "Epic War" entry has received 3038 views. I don't see this as remotely possible given the number of f-netter who visit the blog section.
I looked at the title and went "Doh", and realized that probably google contributed to about 3000 of the view

I'm still getting used to the new changes in f-net. I can see some of the social groups being interesting places to have more private discussions with like-minded people.
I'm grateful the initial flurry of people suddenly wanting to be my "friend" died down. I don't have a problem with friendships or even casual acquaintances being listed as my friend. Where the issue lies with me, is I have been using my buddy list as a filter for my personal blog entries.
I guess I should be touched... it was nicely presented after all. My male cat brought me a "gift". I woke this morning to a dead mouse nicely laid out on my housecoat (that fell off the bed). Yumm!
It was sweet of him I suppose.... in a kitty kind of way. Yes, I fawned and made nice noises at him. Even gave him some food and a little cat nip "reward" for his gift. After he went away satisfied, I flushed the mouse down the toilet, he peered around the corner as the mouse spiraled out of sigh

This weekend I ran across someone who was a pallbearer at my father-in-law's funeral. I really liked my husband's father. He had that dry prairie humour that was so different than my own, but every bit as funny.
Here's an example of a telephone conversation between son and father...
Son: Hi dad. What are you up to today?
Dad: Babysitting!
Son: Where's mom?
Dad: She's off with the boy's mother shopping.
Son: (concerned) I don't think that was a good idea leaving you with t
