I started blacksmithing recently. Got some cool stuff in the works. Unfortunately the weight thing got away from me during the summer. Back up to 205ish.

Oh well, what I really need is some REASON to get in shape. Martial arts just doesnt hold the same lustre for me it once did. I've done it all. My concept of self defense is just suplexing someone. So why bother with training? When you get to my level.. the only people I have to worry about are either people with guns or other martial artists.. and the latter dont usually pick fights with me. The former requires me to purchase a gun not do more cardio.

I'm not at all a narcissist. don't really give a **** what I look like. I guess I'd LIKE to be healthier.. but its not a motivator.

I need to find something fun to do that is gentle cardio. Something not as hard on the joints as fencing... so I can get down to a weight where I can really feel like fencing again.

I don't care what women think of me so that doesn't help motivate me. Again, not a narcissist and the prospect of playing into social darwinism is so loathsome to me...

Gym membership people are such horrible salespeople that I just want to keep punching them until they shutup and just take my money. The poor attempts at upselling!!!! grr at salespeople.

The other thing is that healthy meals taste ****ty. REALLY ****ty.

I think the worst thing about workout class leaders is how chipper they are.

Does anyone who uses a home workout tape feel at all self conscious, even if they are doing it alone? I feel so silly its not funny.

The only thing positive I have to say about the prospect of working out is that its not so ****ing hot here during the 'winter'.

I think one things for sure though. I'd love to try the gracie diet. seems like they have it down.

Cycling. Either fat tire or skinny. Once you get out of the city (PHX) there are nice roads where you can go for hours. A few good clubs there too. Splurge, get a decent bike, find some folks (or go it alone) and take to the roads (on or off). I've known several folks who used cycling to drop big pounds. You've also got some good "tours" (tour de tucson if I remember correctly) that you can shoot for to give you a goal...

You don't have to eat healthy ***ty meals to lose weight. You can still eat your junky foods...just eat it in moderation. I saw a news segment recently where a university professor was trying to prove that he could lose weight by eating twinkies (and other junk). He did eventually lost a tonne of weight. So it's not the type of food you eat, it's just the amount of calories you take in per day.

    Good luck, though!
