the US? Around the world?

I think that, to celebrate Asian heritage around the world and its involvement in fencing, that we should celebrate it with our own, exclusive "Asian Games"

Of course the non Asians would be excluded of course as it is a celebration of Asian Heritage and fencing.

I wonder where I could find this out? I spose I could call the USFA but perhaps there is someone who reads my blog who could point me in the right direction.

We could call it the Confucius Games. Nearly every Asian culture was heavily influenced by Confucian thought so calling it that wouldnt alienate any one Asian nation.

We could even have representatives from Asian countries bring traditional games, songs, etc.

Im surprised something like this hasnt been thought of.With as many ABC-ers around and Koreans too it would be a fun time had by all.

I'd like to sponsor something like that soon. Takes some planning and also getting the word out to the Asian Communities.

WOW!! It's questions like this that make me want to stay at F-net. What a powerful question.

My answer in short is yes. I think there would be some kind of committee to decide this and all fo their decisions would be subject to my final ruling on the matter.

For example, some people may try to lie about such things just to say they got away with it. So I'd do some preliminary investigating.

Or I might put in a stipulation that includes such adoptees so as to not worry about administering that type of policy.

So, in short, yes. I would. I believe that you are what you are raised to be.

So if someone with blond hair and blue eyes spoke fluent Hokkienese and was raised in Taiwan, I would happily let he or she enter.

Although the Asian is meant to be SOMEWHAT exclusionary it is not meant to be so punitively. It is meant to be a festival celebrating asian heritage.

Tell your mom you met someone on f-net that teaches Arnis or Eskrima depending on what part she is from.

A number of years ago I trained in Masbate and Cebu. I have a lot of love for my Filipino brothers and sisters. In Stockton Calif. they took me in, fed me, taught me. Eskrima doesnt only happen in the picking fields. it happens in the kitchens too!

Finally, I have seen other cultures that have these types of games that are so ruleminded that they have even barred their own legitimate entrants because of some rulemongering rigamarole.

Ultimately what happens on the strip is the decider. That is THE one rule in fencing. To deny it makes one frankly, NOT a fencer.

So why should we or any culture rulemonger a participant out?

Finally, as you might have guessed there are people I don't like here on f-net. But even them, should they ask, I would find a reason to include them if I could.

As long as the games were Asian in the main what would it really hurt to have a few non-Asians? Besides it might just help to evangelize all that is great abut Asian culture.

You know that. You were raised by it.
