  1. Prepping for Reno

    by , 01-23-2013 at 10:05 PM
Week two back to the basics. Out 4 weeks...4 weeks! Due to holiday abroad eating too many carbs and watching muscle turn to fat. I tried to work out and picked up what I thought was a 10 lb wt and felt soo weak lifting..until I realized it was in kg. silly really.
It was a well needed break but somehow not back in the groove yet. Not sure why, perhaps because of stress due to work ( having to catch up), kid with flu, and the plethora of chocolates from Christmas.
    Waiting for it to ...
  2. MKE 12 My first vet NAC

    by , 12-09-2012 at 03:42 PM
Considering the last time I was at a NAC was 20 years ago a lot has changed. I was very impressed at how well organized it was. I especially loved the camaraderie of the women vet Epeeists who cheered me on after their DEs were complete. While I miss my college teammates, I do love my new épée family. So yes after this weekend I decided to focus mainly on épée here on out much to my coaches glee. It sucks that I needed to buy a new lame for vet foil today but I cannot say that I will never wear ...
  3. Control

    by , 09-22-2012 at 06:55 PM
Today was a very good day of open bouting. Feel very much aware of what I was actually doing...which is a major step and changing what I do wrong. I felt in control and was able to lead with hits but the moment I let my mind wander or zoned out I got into trouble. The fact that I also tried new tactics and didn't just focus on "winning and losing" was also a major change. It is hard to put ego aside and fail for the purpose of actually trying and eventually succeeding at something new.

  4. Training log 9.19

    by , 09-19-2012 at 09:48 PM
Great work out today. Dead lifted more than last week and for more reps then before. Squats with more weights but still weak in my upper back so form drifted in the end which sucks. Shoulders stronger which is always a plus. Working on heart rate goals today. My lactate point is at around 160 bpm or so. Going to get some training on that to understand it better and to get my recovery hr lower at 2 minutes and not 2:20. Small but hopefully big changes in the bug picture of stronger faster lunges ...
  5. Still pumped from class and lesson!

    by , 09-13-2012 at 11:02 PM
I had a great 3 hours and am really jazzed. I felt like I was actually using the skills from past lessons and bringing to the bout. The lesson itself at the end of class was fun, high paced and really worked on some fundamentals to add to my game.
I am itching to compete and hope that I am retaining each week. At least I feel more fit thanks to strength training and that at least is not as much a factor. My endurance is much better, I just hope my speed keeps getting well...speedier.
