Hamtaur escaped at least a week ago. Unfortunately the humane trap we set out for him doesn't work....because his body/butt is so big that once the trap door shuts, it shuts on his butt. So, all that little fat hamster has to do is wriggle out backwards. He sets the trap off every night. I am considering going throught he huge bookcase and the two filing cabinets he's probably hiding behind to rescue him from his freedom.

In other news, the men's team fenced very well at the MACFA, although due to some very weird/ill-run issues at the tournament sabre decided to give their first place trophy to Stevens and take home the second place instead. The men were supposed to leave at five, but didn't actually walk out of the gym until around ten.
To keep the women fresh, Coach recommended we fence at a local club run by alumni. It was the coolest local tournament I've ever been to. For scale, there was a full spread, alcohol for the age appropriate, and the first place prize was a BBQing sabre complete with Zorro mask.
Remember that security blanket? Mine used to be the scrubby rating I'd kept for a long time. I liked being the underestimated fencer, and frankly, when you fence WS in NC, it's really, really hard to get a rating. Being a college bum with no money makes getting ratings even harder. (Hm, do I have at least $600 to blow on a NAC? ....oops, textbooks) I had the only pool of six (lucky me?) but inevitably also fenced the highest seeded fencer. hey look, it's bigdawg. My indicator was alright, could've done a lot better, but my crew showed up five minutes before registration closed. I didn't warm up as much as I needed to prepare.
After the tournament, security blanket gone. What does the world mean? it's all different, but the same! epiphanyepiphanyepiphany!

Went back the next day to ref the epee. It was....epee. I reffed more than a couple older gentlemen...and they were so nice. I wonder why.
