Nationals

Concluded the Vet40 season well. I didn't fence my best in pools but pulled everything together in the DEs to win my first national championship.
Odd thing is that the Nationals counts for 400 points where winning vet combined at a NAC is worth 600. My 5th place in Detroit was worth more points than winning nationals. (Combined vs. 40-49 only?)
The win moved me up slightly to 4th in the 40-49 points for the year. Michael Cho (another 1st year vet) won points - a 1st and two 3rd place finishes.
For the season I ran into more injuries than I'm used to. After Detroit I dealt with tennis elbow and was in rehab going into Nationals. Did a lot of mental imagery work but wasn't able to fence lots of sharp bouts prior to Nationals. Since I'm in the "everyone is starting to break down" division my bet is that others were in the same boat.
The PTs on site did a great job taping me up with the kineseo tape that we referred to as artificial tendons. Went pain-free through the individual event.
