Coaches college argh...

Man is it frustrating that the CC is just sitting on its hand. I know its likely not our end, so much as it is the OTC end, but still. I'd think that if there are no dates set within a week or 2, they should just cancel it. How many people could afford airline tickets from 6 months in advance, but not 1 month in advance?

Gah, why is it that every coaches ed. thing I try and do gets canceled...? I would love to go out to CC this year for all 3 sessions, but I guess its time to start planning for other options...

Honestly plane ticket prices from 6 mos out are not significantly better if better at all.

Also, the best coaching education is probably not found by attending coaches' college.

Since the dates for CC are often in late July/August, buying a ticket now isn't going to be much of a huge difference from buying it in, say June.

I would disagree, BD. For someone like Chris, CC is an excellant value, and it's a good program for him at his level. There ARE better ways to get a coaching education, and I've done some of them. But they are frightfully expensive, compared to CC.

Chris....just how many coaching ed things have you signed up for?

Haha, not many. I'm registered for the clinic with Mr. Ma in Nj may 16/17, but with only 3 people signed up so far, I'm afraid of it being cancelled. I'm thinking about going out to san jose for the USFCA conference. It is a very impressive list of people they have presenting (even though much of it would be way above the level that I'm coaching at, I'm sure it would still be very informative.)

And yea, the CC would be a great value. The idea of paying 1200 for a month instead of 800 or a weekend sounds very appealing. Who knows if it will happen though...

I understand where you're coming from Allen and CC has great people instructing that he can learn a lot from BUT, (to play Devil's Advocate), he lives in NJ. How hard would it be to Luchetti's club and ask him to help teach you about teaching fencing in exchange for a little free help? What about Oleg at Bergen? One of Mr. Ma's satellite locations, etc? No sheet of paper and perhaps no standardized vocabulary set but possibly cheaper, easier, more effective.

Actually, Bigdawg, you're not so much playing Devils advocate with me as correcting me, and rightly so. I was speaking too much from my own experiances of working in the hinterlands of coaching (Seattle and now Virginia). Chris DOES have access to a lot of good NJ coaches, at least during the summer time, and a week or two with them would pay off well (and I think both Oleg and Marco are good coaches) and be just as cost effective (if not cheaper) than Coaches College.

And now the CC IS happening. Lolz.
Either way, I will look into coaching ed opportunities in NJ during the early summer.
