Yeah, I wasn't feeling it and I wanted to stay home, but Wednesday is my lesson night so I went anyway. Lesson: gallop, when coach claps, do pitter-patter, when coach claps again, do advance-lunge. Or gallop backwards, do pitter-patter, when coach claps again, do jump-back. Sounds odd, but throwing a pitter-patter in there from time to time in my bouts actually worked, even with Will, qatet, and Mike. It would place me at the exact right distance to see how an ...

We had a good turnout tonight--Simon, Mike, Will, Tom, and qatet, plus Lucas (foilist) suited up and fenced sabre (in my old lamé). It's almost March, so I figured I had better skip the bosu ball workout and focus on bouting for the next three weeks. I fenced everyone except Lucas, and fenced qatet twice. Fencing some clubmates is interesting because they change. Fencing some others can get a little predictable. A comment someone passed last week made me realize that while I ...

Well, I missed the tournament. I drove to Michigan state and got to where the tournament was last time I went to the venue thinking the IM west place would be next to it or something. However, Not so much so. I drove around for like 20 minutes thinking I'd see one of those campus map billboards that would lead me to the venue but no luck. So, no tournament. I was kind of hoping to hit the Arnold fencing classic, but when I tried on askfred it said no more epeeists ...
Schoolcraft is picking up again. Got about 8 epeeists now to fence with. Doug T stomped me in a match again. Its good having challenges. My hand was still cut up from the tungsten pommel fiasco, got a few more scratches on the hand during fencing. I like using nuskin instead of bandages. Its kind of a liquid bandage that you apply. I've found it works best for fencing scrapes and cuts for me. I still feel great about that win I had last week. ...
It's been a few years since I last competed. As I've written before, I keep renewing my U rating but having a fun time of it. And why do something if you're not having fun? So I figure with the Liberty tournaments coming up on March 11th, I'll try some advice that another fencer gave through tele-coaching. A lot of good advice. But before I go to this larger tourney, test the advice in a smaller setting. WS Panthers has an "Earn your E" and I figure that's as good as anywhere. ...
