    I just got an e-mail from Andrea Lagan with all the forms and tasks I have to complete for Veteran Worlds. It's daunting. Not only that, apparently the Veteran Worlds team has an official armorer (Dan DeChaine) and a Team Leader (Andrea), and it also has several coaches - Vladymir Nazlymov and his son Vitali (I didn't think Vitali was coaching, he had another profession last time I heard) and Iryna Dolgikh (isn't she at Cornell?) and possibly a couple of referees. It asks for our sizes for adidas ...

  2. Detox Day 2

    Today is day two of caffeine de-tox. I woke with a headache, repressed the desire to vomit, and ate something relatively light and safe. I spent two hours at the gym today, doing 30 minutes on the ET followed by a relatively light lower body workout that re-added the 50-lunge-steps-across-the-gym while holding 5-lb weights so I expect the headache to be replaced by a buttache tomorrow morning. I ended the workout with PT in the hot tub followed by more PT in the locker area.

    Today is my one-month kidney-versary. Four weeks ago I had a kidney transplant, the organ coming from a deceased donor. I achieved my goal of a pre-emptive transplant (i.e., no dialysis) through hard physical exercise seven days a week, but I had a lot of unpleasant symptoms so it was time.
